The Camco 45197 is a dome-shaped foam insulator designed for the rectangular domed skylights found above RV bathrooms and showers — a different product from the square 14" x 14" flat vent insulators. The 14" x 22" footprint and 4-1/2" dome profile at the thickest point are specifically sized to fit and fill the interior cavity of a standard rectangular RV bathroom skylight, where a flat press-in insulator would not conform to the curved dome shape.
Once in place, it deflects incoming solar radiation and blocks the significant heat gain that a clear or translucent domed skylight admits on sunny days — reducing the temperature in the bathroom and lightening the A/C load across the whole RV. In winter it reduces warm air loss through the same opening. Two adjustable straps and installation hardware are included to secure the insulator in the skylight opening, and a sewn fabric cover gives it a finished appearance from below.

No tools required — installs from below: 1. Measure your skylight's interior opening (should be 14" x 22") and confirm there is at least 4" of dome depth 2. Position the insulator dome-side up into the skylight opening from inside the RV 3. Run the adjustable straps across the insulator and secure using the included hardware to hold it in place 4. Adjust strap tension until the insulator sits firmly without gaps around the edges To remove, loosen the straps and pull the insulator down — no damage to the skylight.
The 45197 is specifically shaped for domed RV skylights — the rectangular bathroom/shower skylight. It is not the correct product for flat 14" x 14" square roof vents. For standard 14" x 14" flat roof vents, see Camco 45192 (with reflective surface) or 45195 (without). Also verify your skylight interior is at least 4" deep before ordering — shallower domes may not allow the 45197 to seat properly.
