The Camco 42493 is a repair and replacement kit for the exterior exhaust vent on an RV range hood — the small exterior cover and flap assembly that exhausts cooking fumes, steam, and odors through the sidewall. These vents are prone to cracking, warping, or losing the flap over time from sun exposure, road debris, and general weathering. Rather than tracking down an OEM replacement for a specific brand, the 42493 is designed to fit the full range of standard RV range hood sidewall openings and replace the exterior vent assembly in one kit.
The kit includes three mounting flanges of varying collar depths (5/8" to 1-5/8") so the correct one can be selected to match the sidewall thickness at the vent location, plus the exterior flap and scoop. The scoop directs airflow outward during exhaust operation while the flap seals the opening when the range hood is off to prevent outside air, insects, and weather from entering.

Measure before installing: 1. Measure the existing sidewall opening — confirm it falls within 10-3/4" x 3-7/8" to 11" x 4-1/8" 2. Measure sidewall depth (thickness) at the vent location — select the correct flange from the three included options (5/8", 1-1/8", or 1-5/8") 3. Remove the old vent assembly from the exterior sidewall 4. Insert the selected flange through the opening from the exterior 5. Attach the flap and scoop to the exterior face of the flange 6. Seal around the perimeter with compatible lap sealant (not included) to prevent water infiltration Note: Measure both the opening size and the sidewall depth before ordering to confirm fit.
The 42493 fits sidewall openings between 10-3/4" x 3-7/8" and 11" x 4-1/8", with sidewall depths from 5/8" to 1-5/8". Openings outside this range will not be covered correctly by this kit.
