Camco 43423 Foldable Bamboo RV Countertop Extension
Counter space is the most common complaint in an RV kitchen. This fold-down bamboo extension mounts to your existing countertop edge with a full-length metal piano hinge and adds a solid 12 inches of food-safe prep surface -- then folds completely flat when you're done.
RV kitchens are compact by design, and even a few extra inches of usable counter space changes how comfortable meal prep feels. The Camco 43423 is built from natural bamboo -- a dense, moisture-resistant material that holds up to chopping, slicing, and daily kitchen use far better than laminate or thin plastic alternatives.
When extended, the drop-leaf brace locks the panel firmly horizontal so it doesn't flex or sag under the weight of a cutting board, mixing bowl, or small appliance. When you're done, fold it down and it sits nearly flush against the cabinetry -- no storage hassle, no separate piece to lose.
Folds flat against the cabinet when not in use. No disassembly, no storage bins needed.
Full-length piano hinge distributes load evenly and provides smooth, reliable operation over thousands of cycles.
Swing-out metal brace locks the panel horizontal when open, preventing flex and sag during use.
Dense, food-safe bamboo surface resists moisture and is suitable for direct food prep contact.
Bamboo is harder than most hardwoods and naturally resists moisture absorption -- an important quality in an RV environment where humidity levels shift constantly. It won't warp as quickly as pine or MDF in those conditions, and its tight grain makes it easy to clean after food prep. The Camco 43423 surface is food-safe right out of the box.
The extension mounts directly to the edge of your existing countertop using the included metal piano hinge. Typical installation involves holding the panel in position at the countertop edge and driving screws through the hinge leaves into both the extension and the existing countertop substrate. The drop-leaf brace mounts to the underside of the extension and swings out to rest against the cabinet face or counter edge when the panel is open.
Install where the folded panel clears any drawer or cabinet door below it. The 0.75-inch thickness means the folded panel adds only 0.75 inches to the cabinet face profile -- slim enough to avoid blocking most drawers. Measure your clearance before mounting. Ideal locations include the end of a galley run, the edge beside a sink cover, or opposite a slide-out when space allows.
