Dicor 451BSG-1 Gunnable Butyl Rubber Sealant, 10.1 oz, Gray — Skylights, Vents, Windows, Termination Rails

Single-component gunnable butyl rubber sealant for RV skylights, vents, windows, and termination rails. Adheres to TPO, EPDM, PVC, glass, metal, aluminum, concrete, wood, and plastics. Watertight and airtight primary seal, weather and UV resistant. Cures to a putty-like consistency. Gray, 10.1 oz tube.

About the Dicor 451BSG-1

The Dicor 451BSG-1 is Dicor's gunnable butyl rubber sealant — a single-component, solvent-release butyl-based sealant engineered to create watertight primary seals between lapping substrates and joints on RV roofs, skylights, vents, windows, and termination rails. It's the go-to sealant for sealing penetrations and overlapping seams on TPO, EPDM, and rubber roofing membranes where a flexible, paintable, weatherproof bond is needed.

The gunnable tube format is the key practical advantage over traditional butyl tape — the standard caulk gun application delivers a controlled, uniform bead with far less mess and waste than tape, provides more consistent coverage, and stores better over time. The sealant resists weathering, shrinkage, and cracking, and cures to a flexible putty-like consistency rather than a hard skin, maintaining its seal through the thermal expansion and contraction cycles that RV roofing experiences constantly. UV stabilized, gray color to blend with most RV roof surfaces.

Key Features

  • Gunnable Tube Format: Standard caulk gun application — more precise, less mess, and more consistent bead than butyl tape
  • Single-Component, Solvent-Release Formula: No mixing required — apply and tool directly from the tube
  • Watertight and Airtight Primary Seal: Designed for primary sealing of lapping substrates and joints
  • Broad Surface Compatibility: Adheres to TPO, EPDM, PVC, glass, metal, aluminum, concrete, wood, and most plastics
  • For Skylights, Vents, Windows, and Termination Rails
  • Resists Weathering, Shrinking, and Cracking
  • Cures to Flexible Putty-Like Consistency: Maintains seal through thermal expansion/contraction cycles
  • UV Stabilized
  • Gray Color: Blends with most RV roof surfaces
  • 10.1 oz Tube

📋 Gunnable Tube vs. Butyl Tape — When to Use Each

Gunnable butyl (451BSG-1 — this item): Best for applying a bead to a specific location — sealing around vent bases, window perimeters, or along termination rails where a controlled, uniform bead is needed. More precise, less waste, easier to keep neat than tape.

Butyl tape (Dicor 501LSW or similar): Best for bedding flat flanges — placing under a vent flange or window frame before fastening, where even pressure will compress the tape into the joint. More uniform compression under fasteners.

Many RV technicians use both — tape under flanges during installation and gunnable sealant to finish the perimeter after fastening.

⚠️ Shelf Life — Check Manufacture Date

The 451BSG-1 has a 1-year shelf life from the manufacture date. Check the tube for the manufacture date before use — aged butyl sealant may not gun properly or achieve a reliable seal. Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight when not in use.
