A properly rated hitch ball is the single most critical connection between your tow vehicle and trailer. The Equal-i-zer 14-2977 is a heavy-duty chrome-plated steel ball machined to a 2" diameter with an 8,000 lb trailer weight capacity -- purpose-built for Equal-i-zer weight-distribution systems and compatible with most other manufacturers' 2" couplers that share the standard 1-1/4" shank spec.
Most generic hitch balls are stamped from lower-grade steel and finished with a thin coating that rusts out within a season or two of trailer use. The Equal-i-zer 14-2977 is constructed from sturdy steel with a durable rust-resistant chrome plating -- a finish that holds up under the high-contact wear that comes with a weight-distribution head bearing down on the ball every tow cycle.
The 2-1/4" shank length is matched to the thread pattern used on Equal-i-zer receiver shanks, allowing proper nut engagement and torque without bottoming out. Lock washer and hex nut are included so you have everything needed for installation out of the box.
Standard 2" diameter fits the vast majority of travel trailer, fifth-wheel, and toy-hauler couplers rated in the 6,000-10,000 lb range.
Rated for 8,000 lbs trailer weight -- appropriate for most mid-size to large travel trailers when used with a properly rated hitch and vehicle.
Rust-resistant chrome finish handles the daily contact and outdoor exposure that comes with RV towing. Made in USA to Equal-i-zer quality standards.
Ships with a lock washer and hex nut -- ready to install on an Equal-i-zer shank or any compatible 1-1/4" receiver-mounted ball mount.
This ball is designed as the primary coupler interface for Equal-i-zer 4-point sway control weight-distribution hitches, including the popular 90-00-0800 (8,000/800 lb) and 90-00-1000 (10,000/1,000 lb) series systems. The 1-1/4" shank diameter is a widely used standard, so this ball also fits many other manufacturers' shanks and ball mounts -- Andersen, Blue Ox, Cequent, Reese, and others -- as long as the ball mount accepts a 1-1/4" shank and a 2" ball is the correct coupler match.
The 2" ball diameter is correct for couplers stamped or labeled "2 inch" -- the most common size on trailers with Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings between roughly 6,001 lbs and 10,000 lbs. Do not use this ball with a 1-7/8" or 2-5/16" coupler. If you are unsure of your coupler size, check the stamping on the coupler housing or the trailer's original documentation.
