The Fastway Flash Simple HD is the heavy-duty version of the Flash Simple line — precision-machined from solid aircraft-grade aluminum with a hand-polished mirror finish, single-pin tool-free adjustment, and a 2-1/2" receiver shank rated for up to 18,000 lb GTW with the 2-5/16" ball. The 42-99-2925 is the 10" drop / 10" rise version — the largest drop offered in the entire Flash Simple HD lineup, purpose-built for the setups that need the most correction between a high receiver and a low trailer coupler.
Significantly lifted HD trucks — three-inch body lifts, leveling kits, and larger lift kits — often push the receiver opening high enough that a 6" or 8" drop isn't enough to level the trailer. The 42-99-2925's 10" drop closes that gap, bringing the hitch ball down to match even the lowest coupler heights while still maintaining the full 18,000 lb GTW rating of the HD family. As with all Flash Simple HD models, the drop and rise are symmetrical — 10" either way — and the reversible dual ball platform means fast, tool-free switchovers between trailers using different coupler sizes.

The Flash Simple HD 42-99-2925 is a ball mount — it connects your tow vehicle to your trailer and holds the hitch ball securely. It does not provide sway control or weight distribution. At higher GTW ratings — particularly approaching the 18,000 lb ceiling — tongue weight can cause significant rear sag and reduce front-axle traction and steering control. A ball mount alone does not address this. For heavy trailers where tongue weight or sway is a concern, a weight distribution hitch with or without sway control is the appropriate solution. Always consult your tow vehicle's owner's manual for its maximum tongue weight and whether weight distribution is required before towing at or near rated capacity.
A 10" drop is a significant correction — most commonly needed for lifted HD trucks. Confirm your measurement before ordering. Step 1: Measure your tow vehicle's receiver opening height from the ground — on level ground with the vehicle loaded as it will be while towing. Step 2: Measure your trailer's coupler height from the ground — with the trailer loaded as it will be while towing. Step 3: Subtract the coupler height from the receiver height. The result is your required drop. Example: Receiver at 27" — Coupler at 17" = 10" drop → 42-99-2925 is the correct choice. The 42-99-2925 also functions as a 10" rise when flipped — symmetrical in both orientations. If you need a rise instead, this mount handles that equally well.
Installation Steps: 1. Confirm Drop Size: Measure receiver height and coupler height to confirm 10" drop is correct — this is the largest HD drop and most appropriate for significantly lifted trucks 2. Select Ball: Choose the 2" or 2-5/16" ball side of the reversible platform based on your trailer's coupler size 3. Set Height: Pull the stainless steel pin, slide the ball platform to your desired height, and re-insert the pin to lock 4. Insert into Receiver: Slide the shank into your 2-1/2" hitch receiver and secure with a hitch pin and clip (Fastway HD Dual Lock Pack recommended — sold separately) 5. Connect Trailer: Lower your trailer coupler onto the hitch ball and secure the coupler latch 6. Verify Level: Confirm the trailer is riding level before towing Never exceed the rated GTW or tongue weight for the ball mount, hitch ball, receiver hitch, or tow vehicle. For heavy trailers near rated capacity, verify whether your tow vehicle requires a weight distribution hitch.
