Next-generation shock absorber technology. Superior handling without sacrificing ride comfort. Frequency Selective Damping with larger bore piston for exceptional control. Sold individually.
Industry-specific design and engineering of the KONI Type 99 named "EVO 99" represents the next step in the evolution of motorhome suspension technology. If you own a Ford F53 motorhome, you know the challenges of balancing handling and comfort - especially as Class A motorhomes have gotten larger and heavier over the years.
The Koni EVO FSD shock absorber solves this dilemma. Featuring a larger bore piston than previous FSD shocks, the EVO 99 offers unparalleled fine-tuning capabilities, ensuring both exceptional handling AND ride comfort. KONI's superior design boasts enhanced construction strength and advanced valve engineering that delivers maximum comfort for both driver and passengers - a difference so noticeable that your daily commute transforms into a journey of optimum comfort and ride experience.
The EVO technology excels on larger motorhomes with independent front suspensions. The patented open intake valves ensure you get a smooth ride along with enough force to keep your RV from bouncing down the road. Large piston holes and a custom-tuned valve stack ensure you have extra body control when you need it without undue harshness - firm enough for control around corners but soft on rough roads.
Enhanced piston design provides superior fine-tuning and control compared to previous FSD shocks
Firm for control over bumps and corners, soft for comfort over expansion joints and rough roads
Filters out vibrations before they enter the coach while preventing excessive bounce
Large piston holes with custom-tuned valving for body control without harshness
For nearly two decades, the Koni 8805-series FSD shocks were the gold standard for Ford F53 chassis. However, as F53 models grew larger and heavier - especially with the 2008 release of 24K and 26K GVWR models - there was a growing need for enhanced control. The EVO 99 shock represents a significant leap in shock absorber technology, specifically engineered for today's larger motorhomes. The larger bore piston provides the fine-tuning capabilities needed for exceptional handling while maintaining the plush ride comfort KONI is known for. These shocks have already proven themselves in heavy diesel pusher applications and are now revolutionizing Class A gas coaches on the Ford F53 chassis.
Shocks are sold individually. Order 2 for a complete front pair. Most Ford F53 motorhomes require 2 front shocks (one per side). Some installations may use quad shock setups (4 shocks front) for enhanced control on heavier coaches. Planning a quad shock setup? SuperSteer offers quad shock kits (SS1618F, SS2022F, SS2426F) that provide the necessary brackets and hardware for mounting 4 shocks on the front of your F53 chassis.
KONI 8805-Series FSD (Previous Generation): • Standard bore piston • Excellent for most F53 applications • Good balance of handling and comfort KONI 9905-Series EVO FSD (This Product): • LARGER bore piston for superior fine-tuning • Enhanced construction strength • Advanced valve engineering • Designed for today's heavier motorhomes • Unparalleled handling WITHOUT compromising comfort • Ideal for 24K and 26K GVWR F53 chassis The EVO 99 represents the next evolution in motorhome shock technology - specifically engineered to meet the demands of larger, heavier Class A motorhomes while delivering exceptional ride quality.
Installation is straightforward: Front shock installation on Ford F53 chassis typically takes approximately 0.75 hours for a pair of shocks. Basic Steps: 1. Safely support vehicle on jack stands 2. Remove old front shocks 3. Install Koni EVO shocks with provided hardware 4. Torque mounting bolts to specification 5.
