Husky Towing 2" Receiver 120 lb Capacity Husky Towing 81147 Hitch-Mount 4-Bike Rack (Part 16-0170)

Carry four bicycles confidently behind your RV, truck, or SUV. The Husky Towing 81147 installs in any standard 2-inch hitch receiver and includes a built-in tilt feature so you can open your rear door or access your trunk without removing the rack. Heavy-gauge steel construction and a durable powder coat finish mean this rack is built for road miles, not just driveway display.

Four Bikes. One Rack. No Guesswork.

The 81147 ships as a fully capable 4-bike carrier. An included extension arm converts the base cradle assembly from 2-bike to 4-bike configuration -- no separate purchase required. Each bike rests on padded cradle arms that hold the frame securely, and every cradle includes a built-in lock to deter theft while you're parked at the trailhead or campsite.

The rack does not fold when not in use, so plan for its footprint during storage. At 22 lbs, it's manageable for one person to install and remove from the receiver.

Tilt-Down Rear Access

The entire rack tilts down away from the vehicle so you can open your SUV hatch, RV rear door, or trunk without unloading a single bike.

Locking Cradles

Each bike cradle locks independently to secure your bike frames against opportunistic theft at rest stops, campsites, and trailheads.

Included 4-Bike Extension

No upsell required -- the extension arm that converts this from a 2-bike to a 4-bike rack is included in the box.

Heavy-Duty Steel Build

All-metal construction with a powder coat finish resists road grime and weather. Rated to hold up to 120 lbs total across all four bike positions.

Compatible Vehicles and Receivers

This rack requires a 2-inch square hitch receiver. It is not compatible with 1.25-inch receivers without an adapter (not included). Verify your vehicle's receiver class before ordering. The rack fits the standard receiver opening found on most Class II, III, IV, and V hitches and on most fifth-wheel tow vehicles, trucks, and full-size SUVs.

RV and Motorhome Use: The 81147 is a popular choice for Class A and Class C motorhome owners who want to bring bikes along without a tow dolly or trailer. Confirm your motorhome's rear receiver is rated for the combined weight of the rack (22 lbs) plus your bikes before loading.

Loading Your Bikes

Bikes rest by their top tube or frame on the padded cradle arms -- this style is referred to as a frame-contact or cradle-style carrier. It works best with traditional diamond-frame bicycles. Non-standard frames (step-through, Y-frame, full-suspension with sloped top tube) may require a crossbar adapter to rest properly on the cradles.

Frame Clearance Note: Cradle-style racks make contact with the bike frame. Carbon fiber frames can be scratched or damaged by frame-contact racks. Use frame protection pads if carrying carbon fiber bikes.

Installation Overview

  • Slide the rack shank into your 2-inch receiver and secure with the included hitch pin and clip.
  • Attach the extension arm to expand from 2-bike to 4-bike configuration.
  • Fold the cradle arms out to their loading position.
  • Place each bike in a cradle, secure the locking strap or cradle lock around the frame, and verify stability before driving.
  • Use the tilt-release lever to angle the rack down when rear vehicle access is needed.
Maintenance Tips: Rinse the rack after coastal or winter-road trips to prevent salt buildup on the powder coat. Lubricate the tilt pivot and hitch shank annually with a light penetrating oil. Check that the hitch pin clip is fully engaged before each trip.

Warranty

The Husky Towing 81147 is backed by a limited 1-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Important Information
  • Maximum combined load is 120 lbs across all four bike positions -- do not exceed this limit.
  • This rack requires a 2-inch receiver. It will NOT fit 1.25-inch receivers without a separate adapter.
  • This is a non-folding rack -- it does not collapse for compact storage. Factor storage dimensions into your purchase decision.
  • Verify your vehicle or RV receiver's tongue weight rating can support the rack weight (22 lbs) plus the weight of all loaded bikes.
  • The tilt-down feature allows rear access but the rack and bikes remain extended rearward -- confirm clearance before opening rear doors fully.
  • Secure all locking cradles and verify the hitch pin clip is fully engaged before every departure. Check rack and bike stability after the first few miles of a new trip.
  • Not intended for use on ball mounts or any hitch type other than a standard 2-inch square receiver tube.
