Lippert / Kwikee Part No. 383755 12V DC -- Medium Torque Kwikee 383755 Slide-Out Replacement Base Motor -- Medium Torque, Dual Shaft, With Pin

A dead or sluggish slide-out motor doesn't have to mean a shop visit. The Lippert Kwikee 383755 is a direct-replacement base motor built for Kwikee rack-and-pinion slide-out systems, restoring full travel speed and torque with a bolt-in fit. Dual output shafts drive both rack rails simultaneously from the center, and the output shaft pin and wiring connector are included so you're not hunting for hardware before you can get the slide moving again.

Drop-In Motor Replacement for Kwikee Rack-and-Pinion Slide Systems

Kwikee rack-and-pinion slide-out systems use a center-mount base motor to drive dual output shafts -- one for each rack rail running along the slide room floor. When that motor fails (slow extension, grinding, no movement, or blown fuse on every cycle), part number 383755 is the factory-spec replacement. It installs between the existing slide rails using the original mounting points, and the dual-shaft design means both sides of the slide extend and retract in sync without shimming or alignment work.

This is a medium-torque motor, suited for slide rooms of moderate size and weight. If your coach has a larger or heavily loaded slide (full kitchen, wardrobe, or a very long room), verify whether your original motor was medium or high torque before ordering -- the physical envelope is similar but the internal windings differ.

Dual Output Shaft

Drives both rack rails simultaneously from a single center-mount motor for synchronized slide travel.

12V DC Operation

Runs directly off the coach house battery system -- no inverter or converter required during operation.

Pin and Connector Included

Output shaft retention pin and wiring connector ship with the motor -- no separate hardware kit needed.

Center-Drive Architecture

Mounts between the slide-out rails at center, keeping load balanced and minimizing racking stress on the room frame.

What Is Included

  • Kwikee 383755 base motor assembly (12V DC, medium torque, dual shaft)
  • Output shaft retention pin
  • Wiring connector (mates to existing Kwikee harness)

Not included: mounting hardware (bolts, brackets), rack-and-pinion gears, limit switches, slide-out control board, or wiring harness extension. Reuse your existing hardware unless worn.

Direct-Replacement Fit

The 383755 is designed to mount directly in place of the original Kwikee base motor using existing bolt holes and harness connectors. No drilling, no adapter plates. If your coach left the factory with a Kwikee rack-and-pinion slide and your current motor matches the medium-torque dual-shaft spec, this is your motor.

Medium Torque -- Verify Your Application

Kwikee offers both medium- and high-torque base motors for rack-and-pinion systems. Medium torque is appropriate for standard-weight slide rooms (bedroom slides, smaller living room slides). High-torque versions (different part number) are used on larger or heavier rooms. Check the label on your existing motor or your coach's slide-out service manual to confirm medium torque is correct before ordering.

Common Failure Symptoms This Motor Addresses

  • Slide moves very slowly in one or both directions
  • Motor hums but slide does not travel
  • Coach blows a fuse every time the slide is operated
  • Slide stops partway and will not complete travel
  • Grinding or rattling noise from the motor area (not the gear rack)
  • Motor runs but shaft does not turn (internal gear failure)

Before You Replace the Motor

A blown fuse, slow slide, or stopped slide is not always a motor failure. Before ordering, check: battery voltage under load (should be above 12.2V), wiring connections at the motor and control board, limit switch function, and the gear rack for broken teeth or debris. Replacing a good motor when the real fault is a bad control board or low battery will not fix the problem.

Installation and Maintenance Tips

When swapping the motor, note the output shaft orientation before disassembly. Clean the rack teeth and apply fresh rack-and-pinion gear lubricant (Kwikee recommends their own or a compatible lithium-based grease) before reinstalling. Cycle the slide slowly on the first run to confirm both shafts engage the rack evenly. Torque motor mounting fasteners to spec -- an under-torqued motor can walk under load and damage the rack.

Important Information -- Read Before Ordering and Installing

  • This is a medium-torque motor. Do not use as a substitute for a high-torque motor. Check the label on your existing motor to confirm torque class before purchasing.
  • Designed for Kwikee rack-and-pinion slide-out systems only. Not compatible with cable-driven, hydraulic, or electric-over-hydraulic slide mechanisms.
  • Operate slide-out system only with adequate battery voltage (12.2V or higher under load). Low voltage causes slow travel, tripped breakers, and premature motor wear.
  • Disconnect the coach battery before removing or installing the motor to avoid accidental slide movement or electrical shorts.
  • Do not run the motor dry against a seized or jammed rack. Clear the obstruction first or internal motor damage will result.
  • Reapply rack-and-pinion grease to the gear rack during installation. A dry rack accelerates motor and gear wear.
  • If the slide was operated with a failed motor (grinding, forced travel), inspect the rack teeth for damage before reinstalling and operating the new motor.
