The 174184 coil works with the Hydac cartridge valve (177094) and supersedes the earlier Lippert reference 3012600. The coil-only replacement is a cost-effective option when the valve body is intact and only the coil has failed — confirmed by applying 12V directly to the coil and checking whether the valve actuates.
Coil only (174184 — this product): Replace when the coil itself has failed — confirmed by testing with a multimeter (should measure approximately 8 ohms across the coil terminals; an open circuit or very low resistance indicates a failed coil). The valve body and seat are intact. Full cartridge valve assembly (177094): Replace when the valve body is leaking internally, the seat is damaged, or both the coil and valve are suspect. The complete valve assembly includes a new coil. Note on Deutsch vs. spade connector: Lippert offers this coil in two connector styles — Deutsch style (174184, this product) and spade style (176954). Confirm your existing coil's connector type before ordering. The connectors are not interchangeable.
