Lippert / Power Gear Above Floor Slide-Out 12V DC -- 850 in-lbs Lippert 368417 -- Dual-Shaft Medium-Torque Gear Motor, Without Output Pin, Rotary Brake-B

Direct-fit replacement gear motor for Power Gear above floor slide-out systems. Delivers 850 in-lbs of torque at 9 RPM, includes an integrated electric brake with manual release override, and ships without the output shaft cross pin -- required for certain slide rail configurations. Supersedes discontinued part 382684 and carries Power Gear reference number 1010000010.

The Right Motor for Above Floor Power Gear Slide Systems

Above floor slide-out systems use a rack-and-pinion or screw-drive mechanism mounted above the RV floor, and the gear motor is the heart of that system. When your slide moves slowly, stalls under load, grinds, or fails to retract fully, the gear motor is the most common cause -- and replacing it with the correct unit restores full, reliable slide travel.

Lippert 368417 is the factory-specified medium-torque motor for Power Gear above floor systems. The dual-shaft design drives both sides of the slide rail evenly. The integrated rotary electric brake holds the slide firmly in position whenever the motor is not energized, preventing unwanted creep on grade or over rough terrain. A built-in manual release lets you retract the slide by hand in the event of a 12V power failure.

850 In-Lbs Torque

Medium-torque output handles typical RV slide loads without straining the drive gear or rack.

9 RPM at Rated Load

Controlled speed for smooth slide extension and retraction without jerking or slamming.

Rotary Electric Brake

Brake-B design locks the output shaft when power is removed -- slide stays put on uneven ground.

No Output Shaft Pin

Ships without the cross pin -- correct for slide rail assemblies that use a pinless shaft interface.

Supersession and Cross-Reference

This motor directly supersedes Lippert part 382684, which has been discontinued. If you are currently sourcing 382684, order 368417 as the current production replacement. The Power Gear catalog reference for this motor is 1010000010. When sourcing from a dealer using the Power Gear part numbering system, use that reference to confirm fitment.

Dual-Shaft Design -- Even Load Distribution

The dual output shaft drives both sides of the slide rail simultaneously through the cross-shaft and drive tubes. This keeps the slide square during travel and reduces binding that can damage the slide seal or room structure over time. If you are experiencing one-sided slide lag or a twisted room, verify the cross-shaft and drive tubes are intact before motor replacement.

Rotary Brake-B -- What It Means

The "Brake-B" designation indicates the motor uses a spring-applied, electrically released rotary brake. When 12V power is applied to the motor, the brake releases and the motor drives the slide. When power is removed, the brake spring automatically re-engages and locks the output shaft. This prevents slide creep caused by vibration, grade, or payload shifts while driving.

The manual release mechanism allows the brake to be disengaged mechanically -- without electrical power -- so the slide can be manually operated in an emergency. Consult your slide system service manual for the manual release location on your specific chassis, as access points vary by floorplan.

"Without Pin" -- Verify Your Configuration Before Ordering

Power Gear above floor motors are available in two shaft configurations: with cross pin and without cross pin. The output shaft cross pin locks the drive coupling to the shaft. Some slide rail assemblies use a different retention method and require a pinless shaft. Check your existing motor's output shaft before ordering. If your current motor has a cross pin (a small roll pin through the shaft and coupling), you need the "with pin" variant, not this part. If the shaft is smooth or uses a key/spline interface, this "without pin" version is correct.

Installation Notes

This is a direct bolt-in replacement for compatible Power Gear above floor slide systems. The motor mounts to the existing gearbox bracket using the factory bolt pattern. Disconnect 12V power before beginning any motor service. Reconnect the motor wiring harness to the existing slide controller -- no controller reprogramming is required for a like-for-like motor swap.

  • Disconnect shore power and battery disconnect before removing the motor.
  • Support the slide room manually or with a prop before removing the motor -- the slide may shift without the brake holding it.
  • Note wire polarity on the existing motor before disconnecting -- reversing polarity reverses slide direction.
  • Apply a light coating of grease to the drive gear interface during reassembly.
  • Test slide operation through one full cycle before returning the RV to service.

Maintenance Tip -- Extend Motor Life

Above floor slide motors wear faster when the rack and pinion gear teeth are dry or corroded. Every season, clean the rack with a dry cloth and apply a fresh coat of Lippert-approved slide-out rack lubricant. Keeping the rack lubricated reduces the current draw on the motor and prevents premature gear wear on both the rack and the motor pinion.

Important Information -- Read Before Ordering and Installing

  • Verify shaft pin configuration: This unit ships WITHOUT an output shaft cross pin. If your slide rail coupling requires a cross pin to lock to the motor shaft, this is not the correct part. Order the "with pin" variant instead.
  • Confirm system type: This motor is for Power Gear above floor slide-out systems only. It is not a direct replacement for under floor slide motors, Schwintek in-wall systems, or hydraulic slide systems.
  • Supersession: Part 382684 is discontinued. Part 368417 is the current factory-authorized replacement and carries the same Power Gear reference 1010000010.
  • Disconnect power before servicing: Always disconnect shore power and engage the battery disconnect before removing or installing the slide motor. The spring-applied brake holds the slide under no-power conditions, but support the room before removing the motor as a precaution.
  • Test before road use: After installation, cycle the slide fully in and out at least once and verify the room travels squarely and the brake holds position before driving the vehicle.
