Camco Part No. 36543 Made in the USA Camco 36543 Pump Converter Winterizing Kit -- Install Once, Winterize Every Year

Stop hauling hand pumps or draining your fresh water tank every fall. The Camco 36543 Pump Converter Kit mounts permanently to your existing 12V water pump and lets you siphon RV-safe antifreeze directly from a bottle -- through the pump, through every line -- without ever touching your fresh tank. One installation, adjustable wrench only, seasons of effortless winterizing.

Bypass Your Tank. Use Your Pump. Done.

Traditional winterizing means either dumping gallons of antifreeze into the fresh water tank (and flushing it all out in spring) or hand-pumping antifreeze line by line -- slow, messy, and inconsistent. The Camco 36543 takes a smarter approach: the included 3-way brass valve tees into the pump inlet and diverts suction from your fresh water tank to a 32-inch clear siphon hose that drops directly into a jug of RV antifreeze.

Flip the valve, run each faucet until you see pink, flip back. That is the entire process, every year, with no re-installation and no extra tools. The female-to-female pump adapter means it works with standard 1/2-inch barb pump inlets found on the vast majority of RV demand-pump installations.

One-Time Install

Mounts permanently at the pump inlet. No seasonal reinstallation -- just flip the valve each fall and spring.

Fresh Tank Stays Clean

The 3-way valve bypasses the fresh water tank entirely, so antifreeze never enters your tank or tank plumbing.

Corrosion-Resistant Brass Valve

Solid brass 3-way valve handles repeated seasonal use and resists corrosion from antifreeze contact.

No Hand Pumping

Your existing 12V demand pump does all the work -- consistent pressure ensures antifreeze reaches every fixture and trap.

How It Works

The kit installs at the inlet side of your RV water pump -- the side that normally pulls from your fresh water tank. The brass 3-way tee fitting splits that inlet so you can select either the tank (normal operation) or the siphon hose (winterizing mode). In winterizing mode, drop the 32-inch clear hose into a bottle of RV antifreeze, turn on the pump, and open fixtures one at a time until you see antifreeze. The clear hose lets you monitor the antifreeze level in the bottle so you don't run dry mid-process.

Why bypass the fresh tank? Pumping antifreeze through your fresh tank contaminates it and forces a time-consuming flush-and-sanitize cycle every spring. This kit keeps your tank clean and dramatically shortens de-winterizing time.

Installation Overview

Installation requires only an adjustable wrench and typically takes 15 to 30 minutes. General steps:

  • Locate the inlet side of your RV water pump (the line running from the fresh water tank).
  • Wrap the included Teflon tape on all threaded connections.
  • Install the 3-way brass valve using the 1/2-inch tee fittings -- all three ports are 1/2-inch for compatibility with standard RV pump plumbing.
  • Use the female-to-female adapter if needed to mate the valve to your pump's inlet port.
  • Attach the 32-inch clear siphon hose to the third (bypass) port of the valve.
  • Cap the siphon hose port when not in use; the valve cap is included.
Pump not included. This kit adapts to your existing RV water pump. Common compatible pumps include SHURflo 2088 and 4008 series and Flojet demand pumps with standard 1/2-inch barb or NPT inlets. Check your pump's inlet fitting size before installing.

Winterizing Tips

Get the most from this kit each season:
  • Drain your fresh water tank and water heater before switching to antifreeze mode -- this reduces how much antifreeze you need.
  • Use only RV/marine-rated non-toxic antifreeze (propylene glycol-based, pink). Do not use automotive antifreeze.
  • Open every fixture (hot and cold) one at a time until pink fluid appears, then close. Include the toilet flush and any outdoor shower.
  • Pour a small amount of antifreeze directly into each drain trap to protect the P-traps.
  • In spring, flush all lines with fresh water before use. No tank sanitizing needed since antifreeze never entered the fresh tank.

Important Information
  • Water pump is NOT included. This kit installs onto your existing RV water pump.
  • Verify your pump's inlet fitting is 1/2 inch before purchasing. Pumps with non-standard inlet sizes may require additional adapters not included in this kit.
  • Use only RV/marine-grade non-toxic antifreeze (propylene glycol). Never use automotive ethylene glycol antifreeze in potable water systems.
  • Drain the water heater and bypass it using a separate water heater bypass kit before winterizing -- running antifreeze through the water heater wastes several gallons unnecessarily.
  • Do not allow the pump to run dry during winterizing; monitor the antifreeze level through the clear hose and refill the bottle as needed.
  • 90-day limited manufacturer warranty. Warranty does not cover damage from improper installation or use of incompatible chemicals.
How to Use:
1. Make sure all outside water sources are disconnected.
2. Disconnect incoming fresh water suction line from your water pump.
3. Connect port C of the 3-way valve to the suction opening of the pump. Use the female to female adapter if necessary. Use Teflon tape with tapered threads.
4. The connection should be hand tight and port B should be facing up.
5. Connect the fresh water suction line to port A, turn the valve to the open position, and turn on the pump to check for leaks.
6. After making sure your connections are leak free, drain your water system for maximum freeze protection. This includes your fresh water holding tank and water heater.
7. Remove the cap from port B.
8. Connect the clear siphon hose. This connection should be hand tight as well.
9. Submerge the other end of the siphon hose into a jug of antifreeze.
10. Turn the valve to bypass.
11. Turn on the water pump and turn on all the faucets, one at a time, and allow about a cup of antifreeze to flow through each one.
12. When finished, turn off the pump, disconnect the clear siphon hose from the valve, replace the cap and turn the valve back to the open position.
