CarCoverGold Shield 5LLifetime WarrantyCarCover Gold Shield 5L Fifth Wheel Trailer Cover -- Fits 23 to 26 Feet

Purpose-built for fifth wheel trailers in the 23 to 26 foot range, the Gold Shield 5L delivers serious all-season protection with a 5-layer UV-resistant top, 3-layer sides, zippered access panels, and adjustable wind-cinching hardware. Whether your rig sits through a desert summer or a northern winter, this cover handles both extremes without trapping the moisture that destroys paint, seals, and substrates.

All-Season Defense Built for Fifth Wheels

Most RV covers compromise somewhere -- thin sides, no access panels, or a single-layer top that breaks down after one UV season. The Gold Shield 5L is engineered around the specific stress points of fifth wheel storage: large flat roof panels that collect snow and UV exposure, tall sidewalls hit by crosswinds, and the need to reach compartments without stripping the entire cover off.

The 5-ply top construction layers UV-resistant polypropylene and a micro-porous film that blocks liquid water while letting interior vapor escape. That breathability is the difference between a cover that protects your rig and one that bakes mildew into your sidewalls. The 3-ply sides add a secondary defense layer against sun angle, rain runoff, wind-driven debris, and bird droppings without adding excessive weight.

5-Ply Top Construction

UV-resistant polypropylene outer layers sandwich a micro-porous film core that blocks rain and snow while allowing trapped vapor to escape -- preventing mildew and rot from forming underneath.

Zippered Access Panels

Multiple zippered entry points let you reach RV doors and storage compartments without removing the full cover. Essential for extended storage when you need periodic access.

Wind-Cinching Hardware

Adjustable buckles with weighted ends pull slack out of the cover and resist billowing in wind gusts. Elasticized front and rear hems hold the corners snug to reduce fabric fatigue and shifting.

AC Unit Clearance

Pre-built accommodation for up to three rooftop air conditioning units means no forced compromise between coverage and clearance. Fits standard RV AC profiles without modification.

Fabric and Material Details

The top panel uses a multi-layer laminate combining UV-stabilized polypropylene on the exterior face with an internal micro-porous film. This film is the key to breathability -- water molecules cannot pass inward but water vapor can pass outward, which keeps the airspace under the cover dry even when temperatures fluctuate. The 3-layer sidewall fabric uses the same polypropylene construction scaled for side-panel duty, where flexibility and tear resistance matter more than maximum layer count.

Reinforced double-stitched seams run throughout the cover at all panel joins, stress points, and hem edges. This is where budget covers typically fail first -- the Gold Shield 5L uses industrial-weight thread and double passes at every seam.

Fit and Installation Features

This cover is sized specifically for fifth wheel trailers from 23 to 26 feet in length. The cover measures 26.5 feet long x 8.58 feet wide x 10.08 feet tall, giving enough margin at the length extremes for a secure overlap without excess bunching. The extended top layer drops down the sidewalls to provide added runoff coverage even before the side panels begin.

  • Elasticized hems at front and rear corners conform to the rig's profile and prevent corner lifting
  • Ladder cap protects the cover fabric from tearing on sharp ladder rungs or edges
  • Gutter covers shield the fabric from tearing on rain gutter edges during installation or wind movement
  • Reflective panels increase visibility in low-light conditions at campgrounds or roadside stops
  • No tools required for installation -- buckles and elastic do the securing work
The extended top layer is longer than the core cover panel, draping further down the sides to intercept rain runoff and UV exposure that would otherwise hit the upper sidewall seam -- one of the most vulnerable areas on a stored fifth wheel.

Long-Term Storage Performance

For RVs stored 30 days or longer, protection from UV degradation, oxidation, and moisture intrusion is what separates a well-maintained exterior from one that needs costly resealing or repainting. The Gold Shield 5L blocks over 98% of dirt and dust, dramatically reducing the cleaning load when you pull the cover and head out. The sun-reflective outer surface also reduces interior heat buildup, which slows dashboard cracking, upholstery fading, and adhesive degradation.

Maintenance tip: Rinse the cover with clean water each season before storing it in the included storage bag. Check the buckle straps and stitching at the AC cutouts annually -- these are the highest-stress zones during wind events.

Important Information
  • This cover is sized for fifth wheel trailers 23 to 26 feet in length only. Verify your trailer's overall length before ordering -- using an undersized cover voids the fit warranty and risks fabric damage.
  • Overall cover dimensions are 26.5 ft long x 8.58 ft wide x 10.08 ft tall. Confirm your rig does not exceed the height dimension, particularly with aftermarket rooftop additions.
  • This cover accommodates up to three rooftop AC units. Trailers with more than three units or unusually tall AC profiles may not achieve a proper fit at the roof panel.
  • Do not install this cover over a wet trailer surface for extended periods without ensuring adequate ventilation -- park in a shaded or ventilated area when possible to maximize the breathability benefit.
  • Inspect buckle straps and AC cutout seams before each storage season. These are the highest mechanical stress zones and should be checked for fraying or delamination.
  • The patch kit is intended for minor field repairs only. Large tears or delamination of the micro-porous film layer may compromise waterproofing and require cover replacement.
Protecting your RV with a quality cover is essential for maintaining its value and longevity. RVs are significant investments that are often exposed to harsh weather conditions, making them susceptible to damage from corrosion, mold, and UV rays. Unlike standard vehicles, RVs serve as mobile homes for many, and a cover can provide added insulation and privacy, enhancing your comfort while protecting against the elements. By investing in an RV cover, you reduce wear and tear, ensuring that your RV remains in excellent condition for years to come.

How To Measure Your Fifth Wheel Trailer:

Length: Measure the longest point from the front to the rear of the trailer. For a fifth wheel, measure from the rear including bumper, spare tire and ladder, until the furthest point on the nose of the trailer coach. Exclude the hitch.

Height: Measure the trailer sidewalls at the highest point of the roofline down to the outside frame, excluding ground clearance, roof-mounted accessories, vents, and A/C units. Remember, don't stop at the top of the wheel well!

How to Install Your Fifth Wheel Cover:

1. Identify the front of the cover by locating the "Front" tag on the interior.
2.
Lay the cover lengthwise on the ground, inside out, with the exterior facing up.
3.
Fold the sides toward the center and roll the cover from the rear, leaving the front end loose.
4.
Position the rolled cover at the rear of the RV near the ladder.
5.
Loosen the roll slightly, then climb the ladder while holding the front end.
6.
Pull the cover onto the roof gradually until you have a strip covering the entire roof.
7.
Starting at the front, unfold the cover side to side, letting it drape down the sides as you move to the rear.
8.
Ensure the corner opposite the ladder is positioned under the cover’s corner.
9.
Climb down while bringing the cover down with you, then adjust the cover as needed.

Removal:

1. Undo all straps and zippers on the cover.
2.
Lift the front of the cover to the top of the RV.
3.
Pull the cover down from the rear.

For Cleaning:

Proper care of your RV cover is essential for maintaining its performance and water resistance. Contaminants like dirt and grease can damage the cover, so regular washing is recommended for long-lasting protection.

You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.

For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
