CarCover 5-Ply Top / 3-Ply Sides Fits 24-27 ft Travel Trailers Gold Shield 5L Travel Trailer Cover -- 24 to 27 Feet (Part 5RV-TT-2427)

Purpose-built for long-term outdoor storage, the Gold Shield 5L wraps your travel trailer in heavy-duty, layered fabric that blocks sun, rain, snow, ice, and debris. The breathable micro-porous film lets trapped moisture vapor escape while keeping liquid water out -- so you return to a dry, mold-free interior every time.

All-Season Storage Protection for 24- to 27-Foot Travel Trailers

Most RV covers fail at one of two jobs: they either let water in or they trap moisture and create the mold problem they were supposed to prevent. The Gold Shield 5L solves both. The five-layer top combines UV-resistant polypropylene with a micro-porous film that is waterproof from the outside and breathable from the inside. The three-layer sides handle crosswind rain, debris, and side-sun exposure. Together they form a cover rated for true four-season storage, not just a tarp-style drape.

At 27.5 ft long x 8.75 ft wide x 9.17 ft tall, this cover is sized for trailers between 24 and 27 feet in overall length. The extended top hem drops down the sides for extra runoff coverage, and elasticized front and rear corners keep the fit snug even when parked through high-wind conditions.

5-Ply Top Construction

UV-resistant polypropylene outer layers sandwiching a micro-porous film barrier. Blocks rain, snow, and sun while allowing vapor to escape and preventing mildew buildup underneath.

3-Ply Side Panels

Thicker than single-layer covers, the three-ply sides resist tearing from crosswind debris and provide full-height UV protection along both trailer sidewalls.

Zippered Access Panels

Entry and storage compartment doors stay accessible without removing the full cover. Saves significant time during storage-season checks or short-stay access.

Wind-Secure Buckle System

Adjustable weighted buckles remove slack and pull the cover tight against the trailer body. Prevents billowing, fabric fatigue, and abrasion wear during extended storage.

Breathability and Moisture Control

The most common cause of covered-trailer damage is not weather -- it is trapped condensation. Wood rot, delamination, mold on upholstery, and corrosion on metal frames all trace back to a cover that seals moisture in. The Gold Shield 5L uses a micro-porous membrane that passes water vapor outward while blocking liquid water inward. This is the same principle used in quality outdoor apparel, and it means the cover does not need to be removed periodically just to let the trailer breathe.

Breathable, Not Just Water-Resistant -- The micro-porous film layer allows trapped humidity to escape continuously. You do not need to vent or crack the cover during seasonal storage. Condensation under the cover is minimized, protecting fiberglass, seams, and interior walls.

Fit and Installation

The cover is cut to 27.5 ft x 8.75 ft x 9.17 ft to accommodate the full range of 24- to 27-foot trailers including slide-out overhangs and standard roof profiles. Three integrated roof vents accommodate up to three rooftop AC units -- a common configuration on longer travel trailers in this size class.

  • Elasticized front and rear hems conform to the trailer corners for a tight fit
  • Ladder cap reinforcement prevents ripping at ladder uprights
  • Gutter edge protection guards against tearing on aluminum rain gutters
  • Reflective panels on the sides improve low-light visibility in driveways and storage yards
  • No tools required for installation -- buckle and strap system only
What Is Included: Gold Shield 5L cover (part 5RV-TT-2427), patch repair kit for field fixes, and a zippered storage bag for off-season cover storage. The storage bag compresses the 25 lb cover for easy handling between seasons.

Long-Term Surface Protection

Beyond moisture, the cover is rated to block over 98% of airborne dirt and dust from contacting the trailer exterior. This reduces the cleaning workload at the start of camping season and protects gel coat, decals, and painted surfaces from micro-abrasion caused by wind-driven grit. The sun-reflective outer fabric also helps moderate interior temperatures during summer storage, reducing stress on window seals, rubber gaskets, and interior plastics.

  • Blocks UV rays that cause gel coat fading and decal cracking
  • Shields against bird droppings, tree sap, hail, and ice accumulation
  • Reinforced double stitching at stress points extends cover lifespan
  • Gray color reflects rather than absorbs solar heat
Storage and Handling Tip: Before covering, ensure the trailer roof and sides are clean and dry. Even a breathable cover performs better when installed over a dry surface. Periodically check buckle tension after the first few wind events -- initial settling of the cover fabric may require minor strap adjustment.

Warranty

The Gold Shield 5L is backed by a Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. CarCover stands behind this product for the full ownership period, which is uncommon in the RV cover category where most competitors offer one- to three-year terms.

Important Information
  • This cover is sized for trailers 24 to 27 feet in length. Overall cover dimensions are 27.5 ft x 8.75 ft x 9.17 ft. Measure your trailer before ordering -- using an oversized or undersized cover reduces wind security and fit quality.
  • Fits travel trailers only. This cover is not designed for fifth-wheels, motorhomes, or toy haulers, which have different roofline profiles.
  • Always install over a clean, dry trailer surface. Installing over sharp protrusions, exposed screw heads, or damaged trim can cause premature wear or tearing.
  • Periodically inspect and re-tighten buckle straps, especially after the first week of installation and after high-wind events. Fabric settling may require adjustment.
  • The cover is breathable and moisture-resistant but is not a substitute for proper roof sealing and maintenance. Inspect and reseal roof seams before covering for long-term storage.
  • Weight is 25 lbs. Have a second person available during installation on trailers in this length range to avoid overstretching or misaligning the cover.
Protecting your RV with a quality cover is essential for maintaining its value and longevity. RVs are significant investments that are often exposed to harsh weather conditions, making them susceptible to damage from corrosion, mold, and UV rays. Unlike standard vehicles, RVs serve as mobile homes for many, and a cover can provide added insulation and privacy, enhancing your comfort while protecting against the elements. By investing in an RV cover, you reduce wear and tear, ensuring that your RV remains in excellent condition for years to come.

How To Measure Your Travel Trailer:

Length: Measure the longest two points from the front to the rear of the trailer, including bumpers, spare tire, and ladder, but excluding the hitch and tongue of the trailer.

Height: Measure the trailer sidewalls from the very top of the roofline down to the outside frame. Exclude ground clearance, roof-mounted accessories, vents, and A/C units.

How to Install Your Travel Trailer Cover:

1. Identify the front of the cover by locating the "Front" tag on the interior.
2.
Lay the cover lengthwise on the ground, inside out, with the exterior facing up.
3.
Fold the sides toward the center and roll the cover from the rear, leaving the front end loose.
4.
Position the rolled cover at the rear of the RV near the ladder.
5.
Loosen the roll slightly, then climb the ladder while holding the front end.
6.
Pull the cover onto the roof gradually until you have a strip covering the entire roof.
7.
Starting at the front, unfold the cover side to side, letting it drape down the sides as you move to the rear.
8.
Ensure the corner opposite the ladder is positioned under the cover’s corner.
9.
Climb down while bringing the cover down with you, then adjust the cover as needed.

Removal:

1. Undo all straps and zippers on the cover.
2.
Lift the front of the cover to the top of the RV.
3.
Pull the cover down from the rear.

For Cleaning:

Proper care of your RV cover is essential for maintaining its performance and water resistance. Contaminants like dirt and grease can damage the cover, so regular washing is recommended for long-lasting protection.

You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.

For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
