Propeller torque — the tendency of a single-engine outboard to pull the boat to one side during acceleration — is one of the most common handling complaints among outboard boaters. Traditional torque tabs address this by deflecting water at the gear case centerline, but their central position limits both their surface area and their leverage against the torque. StingRay's Torque Equalizers take a fundamentally different approach.
Instead of mounting at the center of the gear case like a traditional torque tab, StingRay's Torque Equalizers attach to the left and right sides of the StingRay hydrofoil itself — outboard of the gear case on both sides. This outboard positioning means they aren't shielded by the gear case and can redirect a larger volume of water with greater leverage, making them more effective at neutralizing steering torque than a single centrally-mounted tab. They're adjustable in 10° increments to dial in exactly the right correction for your engine and boat combination. The TE-3 is identical to the TE-1 and TE-2 in every respect except color — gray finish to match gray outboards and complement silver or gray hull colors.

The TE-3 Torque Equalizer is designed to mount on the underside of StingRay Classic, JR, and Classic SR hydrofoil models only. It is not compatible with other StingRay hydrofoil models or with hydrofoils from other manufacturers — the mounting system is specific to those three StingRay designs. Traditional Torque Tab: A small fin mounted at the center of the outboard's gear case (anti-ventilation plate). It redirects a small amount of water to counteract propeller torque. Its central position, directly behind the gear case, limits how much water it can reach and how much leverage it can generate. StingRay Torque Equalizers: Two adjustable fins that mount on the underside of the StingRay hydrofoil, positioned outboard to the left and right of the gear case. Because they're not shielded by the gear case, they have access to undisturbed water flow across a wider surface area. Their outboard positioning also gives them greater leverage to counteract torque than a centrally-mounted tab can achieve. The result is superior torque reduction performance compared to a traditional torque tab — particularly at higher RPM and during hard acceleration where torque effects are most pronounced.
The Torque Equalizers mount to the underside of your StingRay Classic, JR, or Classic SR hydrofoil. Installation requires drilling into the hydrofoil at the specified positions. Mark Drilling Positions: Follow the instruction template to mark the correct drilling positions on the underside of the hydrofoil 3. Drill Mounting Holes: Drill at the marked positions per the instruction specifications 4. Mount Torque Equalizers: Attach the equalizers to the hydrofoil at the drilled positions using the included hardware 5.
