The BatteryMINDer 2012-OBD2 lets you keep any 12V lead-acid battery fully charged, maintained, and desulfated by plugging directly into the vehicle's On-Board Diagnostic (OBD2) port -- the same port your mechanic uses for diagnostics, located under the dashboard above the brake pedal. No battery clamps, no popping the hood, no corrosion risks. Just plug in the AC cord and walk away.
Modern vehicles, RVs, boats, and stored seasonal equipment all share one common problem: batteries sulfate and discharge during storage or periods of low use. The 2012-OBD2 solves this with BatteryMINDer's U.S.-patented high-frequency pulse desulfation -- applied automatically, continuously, without overcharging. The SmarTECHnology microprocessor monitors battery condition in real time and adjusts charge rate accordingly.
Because the connection is made through the OBD2 port rather than the battery posts, there is no sparking risk at the battery, no need to remove covers or access panels, and no chance of accidentally reversing polarity on sensitive electronics. This is especially useful on vehicles with batteries buried in the trunk, under seats, or behind panels.
Plugs into the standard 16-pin OBD2 diagnostic port found in all passenger vehicles and many RVs built after 1996. No direct battery access needed.
U.S.-patented automatic pulse desulfation dissolves lead sulfate crystals to recover battery capacity and extend service life -- without high-voltage spikes.
Individual LEDs indicate: power on, battery connection, battery weak, load present, testing mode, desulfating, temperature compensation active, and bad cell detected.
Using optional Y-Connectors (sold separately, part 210AY), one unit can simultaneously maintain up to six batteries in parallel -- useful for multi-battery RV banks.
The 2012-OBD2 is a practical tool for:
The 2012-OBD2 safely charges and maintains all standard 12V lead-acid battery chemistries:
Note: This charger is designed for 12V lead-acid batteries only. It is not compatible with lithium (LiFePO4) battery chemistries.
The built-in SmarTECHnology microprocessor adjusts charge voltage based on ambient temperature, preventing undercharge in cold weather and overcharge in heat -- a critical feature for RVs exposed to wide temperature swings. An LED indicator confirms when temperature compensation is actively modifying the charge profile.
The unit also includes full electronic protection against short circuits, reverse polarity, sparking, and thermal runaway. If AC input is interrupted (a tripped breaker, a campground power outage), the charger automatically disconnects and then resumes normal operation when power is restored.
Y-Connectors for multi-battery maintenance (part 210AY) are sold separately.
