CarCover 5-Ply Top Fabric Fits 20 to 23 Feet Gold Shield 5L Class C RV Cover -- 20 to 23 Foot Motorhomes

The Gold Shield 5L is a premium all-weather cover built specifically for Class C motorhomes in the 20 to 23 foot range. Five layers of protection on top, three on the sides, and a micro-porous breathable film throughout keep weather out while letting moisture vapor escape -- protecting your paint, finish, and interior year-round whether you store inside, under a carport, or fully exposed outdoors.

Built for Full-Season RV Storage Protection

Most budget covers trap moisture and let UV radiation degrade your RV's gelcoat and decals over a single storage season. The Gold Shield 5L uses a five-layer top panel -- four polypropylene PLUS layers bonded around one micro-porous film layer -- to resist rain, UV, snow load, and airborne debris while still allowing water vapor to breathe outward. The three-layer side panels use the same micro-porous film construction to prevent the mildew and rot that kill value in stored motorhomes.

CarCover engineered this cover for a slip-seam profile that conforms closely to your Class C's roofline and cab-over, reducing wind catch and the billowing that causes abrasion damage on long-term storage covers.

5-Layer Top Construction

Four polypropylene PLUS layers plus one micro-porous film layer block over 98% of dirt, dust, UV, and precipitation from the top down.

Breathable Micro-Porous Film

Embedded in both top and side panels, the micro-porous layer allows water vapor to escape outward, preventing trapped condensation, mildew, and rot under the cover.

Zippered Entry Panels

Heavy-duty zippered access panels let you enter the cab or storage bays without fully removing the cover -- useful for grabbing gear or running shore power during storage.

Adjustable Buckle and Elastic Hem System

Weighted buckle straps pull slack out of the cover and cinch it against wind. Elastic hems at the front and rear corners hold the fit snug around the cab-over profile.

Protection Against Every Storage Threat

The Gold Shield 5L addresses the full list of hazards that degrade parked Class C motorhomes:

  • Rain and standing water -- water-resistant outer layers shed precipitation; micro-porous film prevents pooling moisture from migrating inward.
  • Snow and ice -- fabric weight and close fit prevent snow accumulation from stressing seams or lifting panels.
  • UV radiation -- top layers reflect sunlight and block UV to slow oxidation of gelcoat, decals, and rubber seals.
  • Tree sap, bird droppings, and pollen -- smooth outer surface resists adhesion and is easy to wipe down before removal.
  • Dirt and dust -- blocks over 98% of airborne particulate, reducing the frequency of full exterior washes.
  • Hail -- multi-layer padding on the top panel cushions light hail impact.
Reflective Safety Panels
Reflective strips are integrated into the cover's sides to make your parked motorhome visible to vehicles at night -- an important safety feature for roadside stops or low-light storage areas.

Fit and Installation Details

This cover is sized for Class C motorhomes with an overall length of 20 to 23 feet. The cover itself measures approximately 23.5 ft long x 8.83 ft wide x 9.08 ft tall, giving it enough material to drape fully over the cab-over, wrap the rear cap, and tuck down the sides with overlap at the skirt. The top panel extends downward on all four sides to provide additional side coverage at the roofline joint -- a common leak point on simpler covers.

  • Slip-seam profile conforms to the cab-over shape without bunching.
  • Ladder cap protects the cover fabric from being cut by rear ladder edges.
  • Gutter guards shield the seam where the cover meets the rain gutters -- a friction wear point on most Class C covers.
  • Built-in roof vents maintain airflow under the cover, reducing heat buildup and interior condensation.
  • No tools required for installation -- buckles and elastic hems are positioned for one- or two-person fitment.
AC Unit Clearance
The Gold Shield 5L is designed to accommodate up to three rooftop air conditioning units. The cover's profile and vent placement account for standard RV AC shroud height so the cover lays flat without stressing the fabric over AC units.
Sizing Note
Measure your motorhome's overall length bumper to bumper before ordering. This cover is designed for Class C rigs 20 to 23 feet long. For rigs shorter than 20 ft or longer than 23 ft, select the appropriate CarCover size variant. A cover that is significantly oversized will billow and abrade; one that is undersized will stress seams.
Storage and Maintenance Tips
  • Always install over a clean, dry RV -- installing over dirt or tree debris traps abrasive particles against the finish.
  • After removal, shake out the cover and allow it to air dry fully before folding and placing in the included storage bag.
  • Use the included patch kit to address any small tears immediately -- a small repair is far easier than replacing a panel after water ingress damage.
  • Inspect buckle straps and elastic hems seasonally; replace if elastic has lost tension or buckles are cracked.

Not Intended ForClass A motorhomes, Class B vans, fifth wheels, travel trailers
Important Information
  • Verify your motorhome's total length bumper to bumper before purchasing -- this cover is sized for 20 to 23 foot Class C rigs only. Ordering the wrong size will result in poor fit and may damage the cover or RV finish.
  • This cover is designed for Class C motorhomes. It is not engineered for Class A coaches, Class B campervans, fifth wheels, or travel trailers.
  • Never install this cover over a wet or dirty RV surface -- trapped debris and moisture accelerate finish damage and promote mildew growth under the cover.
  • Do not leave the cover on during active driving. This cover is for storage and stationary use only.
  • Inspect and retighten buckle straps after heavy wind events. Prolonged billowing in high winds can stress seams and abrade the roof surface.
  • Patch kit is included for minor repairs. Address tears promptly to maintain weatherproofing integrity.
Protecting your RV with a quality cover is essential for maintaining its value and longevity. RVs are significant investments that are often exposed to harsh weather conditions, making them susceptible to damage from corrosion, mold, and UV rays. Unlike standard vehicles, RVs serve as mobile homes for many, and a cover can provide added insulation and privacy, enhancing your comfort while protecting against the elements. By investing in an RV cover, you reduce wear and tear, ensuring that your RV remains in excellent condition for years to come.

How To Measure Your RV:

Length: Measure the longest two points from the front to the rear of RV, including bumpers, spare tire, and ladder.

Height: Measure the highest point of the RV sidewalls from the top of the roof down to the outside frame, excluding ground clearance, roof-mounted accessories, vents, and A/C units.

How to Install Your RV Cover:

1. Identify the front of the cover by locating the "Front" tag on the interior.
2.
Lay the cover lengthwise on the ground, inside out, with the exterior facing up.
3.
Fold the sides toward the center and roll the cover from the rear, leaving the front end loose.
4.
Position the rolled cover at the rear of the RV near the ladder.
5.
Loosen the roll slightly, then climb the ladder while holding the front end.
6.
Pull the cover onto the roof gradually until you have a strip covering the entire roof.
7.
Starting at the front, unfold the cover side to side, letting it drape down the sides as you move to the rear.
8.
Ensure the corner opposite the ladder is positioned under the cover’s corner.
9.
Climb down while bringing the cover down with you, then adjust the cover as needed.

Removal:

1. Undo all straps and zippers on the cover.
2.
Lift the front of the cover to the top of the RV.
3.
Pull the cover down from the rear.

For Cleaning:

Proper care of your RV cover is essential for maintaining its performance and water resistance. Contaminants like dirt and grease can damage the cover, so regular washing is recommended for long-lasting protection.

You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.

For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
