What sets the JP54-003 apart from every other hinge on the market is its greaseable design. Long bronze bushings paired with a 3/8" stainless steel hinge pin and a built-in grease fitting allow for routine lubrication — something no factory or competing aftermarket hinge offers. The bronze bushings can even be replaced independently if they ever wear out, using standard parts available at most hardware stores. Here's the recommended progression: Step 1 — Hinges Only (JP54-003): Eliminate rattle and restore tailgate integrity, even with your stock spare Step 2 — Add Reinforcement (JP54-016): When upgrading to a heavier aftermarket spare that still fits the stock carrier, add the Tailgate Reinforcement for additional strength Step 3 — Add Spare Tire Carrier (JP54-017): When going to a larger or heavier spare (up to 40"), add the Heavy Duty Spare Tire Carrier for full support The Tailgate Reinforcement (JP54-016) and Spare Tire Carrier (JP54-017) are sold separately.
