B&W Hitches Part No. HB94007 Heavy-Duty Forged Steel B&W Hitches HB94007 -- Precision Forged Hitch Ball for Serious Towing

When you're pulling a loaded travel trailer, fifth-wheel toter, or boat rig down a mountain grade, your hitch ball is not the place to cut corners. B&W Hitches builds the HB94007 from precision-forged steel -- the same brand trusted by serious RVers and truck owners who demand components that hold up mile after mile, season after season. Swap a worn or undersized ball for a purpose-built B&W unit and tow with confidence.

Built for the Demands of Real-World Towing

B&W Hitches has been manufacturing towing components in Humboldt, Kansas since 1987. Every hitch ball that leaves their facility is held to tight dimensional tolerances so your coupler seats cleanly, latches fully, and stays locked under dynamic load -- whether you're on an interstate slab or a washboard forest service road.

The HB94007 is a solid forged-steel ball designed to deliver the precise shank diameter, ball diameter, and thread engagement that Class III and Class IV couplers demand. At 5.35 lbs, this is a substantial, full-material ball -- not a hollow or lightweight casting.

Forged Steel Construction

Hot-forged from high-strength steel for superior grain structure and impact resistance compared to cast alternatives.

Precision-Machined Shank

CNC-machined shank and ball surface ensure accurate fit into receiver-mounted ball mounts and proper coupler engagement.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

Chrome or zinc-plated finish protects against road salt, moisture, and UV exposure through years of outdoor use.

B&W Quality Standard

Made in the USA by B&W Hitches -- a manufacturer whose components are standard equipment on some OEM truck hitches.

Fitment and Compatibility

The HB94007 is designed for use with standard 2-inch ball-mount receivers and compatible coupler sizes common to travel trailers, cargo trailers, boat trailers, and utility trailers in the Class III and Class IV weight ranges. It pairs directly with B&W ball mounts and is dimensionally compatible with most aftermarket and OEM receiver-style ball mount plates that share the same shank-hole diameter and thread specification.

Confirm your coupler's ball diameter requirement before installing. Common trailer coupler ball sizes are 1-7/8 inch, 2 inch, and 2-5/16 inch -- match this ball's diameter to your coupler's stamped specification for safe towing.

Why B&W Over Generic Balls? Generic import hitch balls frequently have loose shank tolerances that allow the ball to shift under load, accelerating wear on both the ball and the coupler. B&W's precision machining keeps everything tight so your coupler doesn't rattle, rock, or wear prematurely over a long haul.

Typical RV and Trailer Applications

  • Travel trailers and toy haulers requiring a Class III or IV ball connection
  • Boat and PWC trailers up to the rated gross trailer weight
  • Cargo and utility trailers with standard 2-inch-class couplers
  • Horse and livestock trailers
  • Replacement ball for worn or corroded OEM or aftermarket hitch balls on pickup trucks, SUVs, and full-size vans

Installation Notes

Thread the HB94007 into your ball mount plate by hand first to confirm thread engagement, then torque the retaining nut to the specification printed on the ball or ball mount -- typically 150 to 300 ft-lbs for 1-1/4 inch shank balls and higher for larger shanks. Under-torqued balls can rotate or back off under dynamic load.

Hardware Included: B&W hitch balls typically ship with the retaining nut and sometimes a cotter pin or keeper. Verify hardware is present before installation and replace any worn or missing fasteners before towing.
Maintenance Tip: Apply a light coat of high-temp grease or anti-seize to the shank threads before installation to prevent galling and make future removal easier. Clean and re-grease the ball surface annually or whenever the coupler shows dry metal-on-metal contact -- this extends coupler life significantly.
Torque and Re-Check: After the first 50 miles of towing with a new hitch ball installed, pull over and re-check nut torque. Seating and vibration can allow slight relaxation in thread engagement during the break-in period.

Important Information -- Read Before Towing
  • Always match the hitch ball diameter exactly to your trailer coupler's stamped ball size requirement. An undersized or oversized ball can unlatch under load.
  • Never exceed the hitch ball's stamped gross trailer weight (GTW) or tongue weight (TW) rating. Check the rating embossed or stamped on the ball itself.
  • Torque the retaining nut to specification using a calibrated torque wrench before every tow season -- or whenever the ball has been removed and reinstalled.
  • Inspect the ball surface for cracks, pitting, or flat spots before each trip. A damaged ball must be replaced -- do not continue towing on a compromised ball.
  • This is a conventional receiver hitch ball. It is NOT compatible with B&W Turnoverball gooseneck systems or fifth-wheel king pin connections.
  • This product is intended for vehicle towing applications. Do not use as a structural anchor, lifting point, or for any purpose other than trailer towing.
