Fasco460V / 3200 RPMUL & CSA ListedFasco A331 Furnace Draft Inducer Blower Motor -- 3.3" Diameter, 460V, 2800/3200 RPM

The Fasco A331 is a direct-replacement draft inducer blower motor engineered to restore proper combustion air flow in select Fasco and Lennox furnaces. With ball bearing construction, Class B insulation, and thermal overload protection built in, this motor is a reliable drop-in fix when your existing inducer fails -- no rewiring, no fabrication.

Restore Efficient Draft Inducing With a Proven OEM-Spec Replacement

Draft inducer motors pull combustion gases through the heat exchanger and out the flue before the main burner ignites. When this motor fails -- or weakens enough to trigger a pressure switch fault -- the furnace locks out on a safety code. The A331 matches the original motor's frame size, wiring harness connectors, and performance specs so you can restore heat quickly.

Also sold under NBK Parts number 20577, this motor is stocked as a service replacement and is compatible with both 50 Hz and 60 Hz power supplies, making it suitable for North American residential and light-commercial furnace applications.

PSC Motor Design

Permanent split capacitor motor provides reliable starting torque and efficient steady-state operation in continuous draft inducer duty.

Ball Bearing Construction

Ball bearings deliver longer service life and lower friction compared to sleeve-bearing alternatives, especially in the heat of a furnace cabinet.

Thermal Overload Protection

Internal thermal protector automatically cuts power if the motor overheats, protecting both the motor and the furnace control board.

Dual-Speed / Dual-Frequency

Rated 2800 RPM at 50 Hz and 3200 RPM at 60 Hz -- one part covers both supply frequencies without special ordering.

Wiring and Lead Configuration

The A331 ships with two sets of leads already attached:

  • 21-19" leads terminated with pin connectors (main motor connections)
  • 7-5" leads terminated with F flag terminals (thermal protector / capacitor connections)

These lead lengths and terminal styles are matched to the original Fasco and Lennox harness connectors. In most cases the motor plugs directly into the existing wiring without cutting or splicing.

Direct-Plug Replacement: Terminal styles and lead lengths are spec-matched to the OEM harness on compatible Fasco and Lennox furnace models. Verify lead polarity against your existing wiring diagram before energizing.

Motor Enclosure and Insulation

The A331 uses an open enclosure with an over-air cooling path (open air-over). This is the correct enclosure type for draft inducer applications where the motor sits adjacent to the blower wheel and is cooled by the air stream it moves. The open design is not appropriate for wet or heavily contaminated environments.

Class B insulation is rated to 130 deg C winding temperature, providing adequate thermal margin for the ambient conditions inside a furnace cabinet (rated to 104 deg F / 40 deg C ambient).

Enclosure Note: The open air-over design requires that the motor remain mounted in its original orientation within the furnace cabinet so the blower wheel continues to provide cooling airflow over the motor body.

Compatible / Replaced Models

The A331 (NBK 20577) is a verified replacement for the following OEM part numbers:

  • Fasco 7062-4051
  • Fasco 7062-4518
  • Fasco 7062-5554
  • Lennox 69M3201
  • Lennox 7062-4051
  • Lennox 7062-4518
  • Lennox 7062-5554
  • Lennox 97J8101
Verify Before Installing: Cross-reference your furnace model number and the part number on the failed motor before ordering. Lennox and Fasco produced multiple inducer assemblies across similar furnace families; an incorrect motor may mount but run at the wrong speed or draw incorrect current.

Installation Tips

  • Disconnect power to the furnace and wait for all components to cool before removing the old motor.
  • Photograph the original wiring before disconnecting any leads.
  • Transfer the blower wheel from the old motor shaft to the new one -- the wheel is typically not included.
  • Confirm shaft rotation direction matches the blower housing before tightening the wheel set screw.
  • Restore power and cycle the furnace through a full heating sequence to verify proper draft and pressure switch operation.
Maintenance Tip: While the furnace cabinet is open, inspect the flue pipe, pressure switch hose, and condensate drain (if applicable) for blockages or cracks. A blocked flue or cracked pressure hose is often the root cause of inducer motor failures due to overheating.

Important Information
  • This motor is rated for 460V supply voltage only -- do not connect to 120V or 240V circuits.
  • The blower wheel, mounting bracket, and housing are NOT included -- transfer these from the original assembly.
  • Confirm shaft rotation direction before securing the blower wheel; a reversed rotation will not produce adequate draft and may cause furnace lockout or flue backflow.
  • Open air-over enclosure -- motor must remain in its design-mounted position to receive cooling airflow from the blower wheel.
  • For professional HVAC technicians or experienced DIY installers only. Furnace combustion systems must be verified for safe operation after any inducer motor replacement.
  • Cross-reference your OEM part number before installation. Multiple Lennox and Fasco furnace models use similar-looking inductors with different speed or voltage ratings.
