The Steele Rubber Products 90-3472-277 is a 5/8" H x 7/16" W Small "V" Profile peel-and-stick EPDM sponge rubber seal ā a triangular, wedge-shaped weatherstrip that seals differently from dome, half-round, or rectangular profiles. Where a dome or half-round seal compresses vertically under closure force, the V profile works by having its two angled side faces compress together as the door or hatch closes. This brings the two faces of the triangle into full contact along their lengths, forming a tight, continuous wedge seal along the complete door perimeter. The V shape makes it particularly well-suited for access door frames, compartment doors, hatches, and storage compartments where the angled geometry ensures consistent sealing contact even when closure pressure is not perfectly uniform.
Construction is the same premium closed-cell core with solid skin surface used across Steele Rubber's best hatch and compartment seal lines. The closed-cell core resists moisture absorption and compression set, while the solid skin surface provides abrasion and weather resistance that outlasts standard open-cell foam gaskets in outdoor RV use. The seal will not fade, shrink, or crack under UV, ozone, or moisture exposure.
A standout feature of this profile is its dual installation flexibility. It comes with Steele Rubber's exclusive skirted 3M Peel-N-Stick adhesive for direct surface mounting ā the skirting shields the adhesive edges from moisture and debris for a lasting bond and clean finished look. But the V profile extrusion is also dimensioned to fit into existing seal channels and can be bonded in place using 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive when a channel-mounted installation is needed. Peel-N-Stick Installation: Apply between 60Ā°F and 104Ā°F (15Ā°Cā40Ā°C) for best 3M adhesive bond strength. The temperature difference between the seal and the bonding surface should be as small as possible ā avoid applying on a very hot surface or in cold conditions. Completely remove all old seal material and adhesive residue, wipe with isopropyl alcohol, and allow to fully dry before applying. Glue-On Channel Installation: When installing into an existing seal channel, use 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive (sold separately). Thoroughly clean and dry the channel before applying adhesive. Follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for open time and cure before cycling the door or hatch.
