B&W Hitches Class IV Tri-Ball Platform B&W Hitches TS10049B Tri-Ball Mount -- Three Ball Sizes, One Platform

Stop carrying a bag of hitch balls and a torque wrench to every job. The B&W TS10049B Tri-Ball Mount puts a 1-7/8 inch, a 2 inch, and a 2-5/16 inch ball on a single Class IV receiver shank. Flip the mount to the ball size your trailer needs and you are done. Built by B&W Hitches in Humboldt, Kansas -- the same company that supplies OEM towing hardware to major truck manufacturers -- this platform is forged and heat-treated for long-term durability under real towing loads.

One Mount Covers Every Trailer on Your Property

Whether you are hooking up a small utility trailer, a mid-size travel trailer, or a heavy fifth-wheel-class bumper-pull, the TS10049B has the ball size you need already mounted and torqued. The three-ball layout eliminates the most common cause of a delayed departure: realizing the ball on the hitch is the wrong size for the trailer sitting in your driveway.

B&W designed the Tri-Ball series for working farms, fleet operators, and serious RV owners who tow multiple trailers with different coupler sizes. The platform is zinc-plated for corrosion resistance, and each ball is properly heat-treated chrome steel rated to handle the loads its coupler class demands.

Three Ball Sizes Pre-Mounted

1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" balls are installed at the factory -- no additional hardware needed to cover the three most common coupler sizes in North America.

Class IV Rated Platform

Engineered for Class IV receiver hitches, supporting the gross trailer weight and tongue weight ratings appropriate for heavy-duty bumper-pull applications.

Forged and Heat-Treated Construction

B&W uses forged steel with heat treatment on the shank and ball platform -- not stamped or cast components -- for consistent strength across the part.

Zinc-Plated Finish

Zinc plating resists road salt, moisture, and UV degradation, keeping the mount serviceable through multiple towing seasons without significant surface rust.

Ball Size Reference -- Which Trailer Needs Which Ball

If you are new to multi-trailer towing or recently added a rig to your fleet, here is a quick coupler-to-ball reference:

  • 1-7/8 inch ball: Small utility trailers, lightweight boat trailers, small cargo trailers -- typically rated under 2,000 lbs gross trailer weight.
  • 2 inch ball: The most common size for mid-size travel trailers, horse trailers, boat trailers, and general-purpose cargo trailers -- commonly rated 2,000 to 6,000 lbs GTW depending on the coupler rating.
  • 2-5/16 inch ball: Heavy bumper-pull trailers, large fifth-wheel-class bumper-pulls, gooseneck adapters, and heavy equipment trailers -- standard size for couplers rated above 6,000 lbs GTW up to Class IV limits.
Built in the USA: B&W Hitches manufactures its Tri-Ball and round-bar series products at its Humboldt, Kansas facility. The TS10049B is not an imported commodity ball mount -- it is made to the same tolerances B&W supplies to truck OEMs.

Receiver Compatibility and Drop/Rise

The TS10049B is designed for standard 2 inch square Class IV receiver tubes. Before ordering, confirm your hitch receiver opening is 2 inches square -- Class IV hitches on full-size trucks and SUVs almost universally use this opening. Class I and Class II hitches with 1-1/4 inch receivers are not compatible.

The platform is designed as a ball mount rather than a drop/rise adjustable shank, so verify that your vehicle's receiver height relative to your trailer coupler height is within the range this fixed-drop mount provides. For applications requiring significant drop or rise adjustment, B&W also offers adjustable-shank Tri-Ball variants.

Hitch Pin and Clip: The TS10049B shank is secured in your receiver with a standard 5/8 inch hitch pin and clip (pin diameter typical for Class III/IV 2 inch receivers). A locking hitch pin can be substituted for theft deterrence -- the shank accepts any standard 5/8 inch receiver lock.

Installation Overview

Installation is straightforward -- no drilling, welding, or wiring required:

  • Slide the TS10049B shank into your 2 inch Class IV receiver tube.
  • Align the pin holes and insert a 5/8 inch hitch pin.
  • Secure with the included clip or a receiver lock of your choice.
  • Rotate the platform to present the correct ball size toward your trailer coupler and lower the coupler onto the ball.
  • Latch and safety-chain as required by your trailer's coupler design and applicable towing regulations.
Maintenance Tip: Periodically inspect all three ball shanks for proper torque. Road vibration can loosen ball nuts over time. Clean and re-grease the coupler contact surface on the 2-5/16 inch ball annually or after extended towing in wet or muddy conditions.
Related B&W Products: If you tow a gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer in addition to bumper-pull trailers, consider pairing this Tri-Ball mount with a B&W turnover ball or under-bed gooseneck hitch system. B&W's OEM-replacement and aftermarket fifth-wheel rail systems are compatible with many current full-size truck beds.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • This mount is rated for Class IV applications. Never exceed the gross trailer weight (GTW) or tongue weight (TW) rating of your vehicle's hitch receiver -- the weakest link in the system sets the limit, not the ball mount alone.
  • Verify coupler size before towing. Using a 2-5/16 inch coupler on a 2 inch ball, or any mismatched coupler-to-ball combination, is a safety hazard and is illegal in most states.
  • Always install a hitch pin and clip (or receiver lock) before towing. Do not tow with the shank unsecured.
  • Inspect ball nut torque before each tow. A loose hitch ball can separate from the mount under load.
  • This platform is NOT compatible with 1-1/4 inch Class I or Class II receiver tubes.
  • Weight listed (32.0 lbs) is the shipping package weight including all packaging materials.
  • Safety chains and breakaway systems are the responsibility of the trailer owner and are not included with this mount.
