Trailer sway can turn a routine tow into a dangerous situation, especially in crosswinds or when being passed by larger vehicles. The Curt 17200 is a friction-style sway control system that uses a telescoping bar with friction pads to resist that side-to-side movement, attaching between your trailer and your weight distribution system or ball mount.
Adjustable tension lets you set the right amount of resistance for your specific towing setup, and an on/off handle makes it easy to engage or disengage the sway control as needed — useful since it should typically be disengaged when backing up. A 1-1/4" hitch ball mounts on the weight distribution system head to provide the attachment point for the sway control unit, and an included adapter bracket can be welded to the system head if there's no existing ball mount platform.
