Installs between campground water spigot and RV fresh water hose to prevent backsiphonage from contaminating the potable water supply. 1/2" NPT male threads on both ends. Thermoplastic polymer body. Rated to 125 PSI.
The Camco 40395 Vacuum Breaker Assembly is a backflow prevention device that protects your RV's potable water supply from contamination through backsiphonage. It installs between the campground water spigot and your fresh water hose — a simple but important safeguard that many RV owners overlook.
Without a vacuum breaker, a drop in pressure on the supply side (such as a pressure surge or a sudden main break) can create negative pressure that draws water back out of your RV's hose and plumbing and into the campground's water supply — potentially pulling contaminants from your tank, hose, or RV plumbing along with it. The 40395 breaks that vacuum, preventing reverse flow in either direction. It is listed to ASSE 1001 and IAPMO TS8 — the recognized industry standards for atmospheric vacuum breakers — and some campgrounds and RV parks require one for hookup compliance.
The 40395 installs inline between the campground spigot and your fresh water hose: 1. Thread the vacuum breaker onto the campground water spigot (female end of spigot to male NPT inlet of vacuum breaker) 2. Thread your fresh water hose onto the outlet end of the vacuum breaker 3. Connect the other end of the hose to your RV's city water inlet as normal Note: The vacuum breaker must be installed in a horizontal or downward-facing orientation — it cannot be installed pointing upward, as gravity is part of how the internal valve mechanism works.
• 1x Camco 40395 Vacuum Breaker Assembly Often used with: • Camco fresh water hose (TastePURE series) • Camco inline water pressure regulator (40055 or 40064) • Camco inline water filter (40043 or 40631)
The vacuum breaker should be the first device on the spigot — installed between the spigot and any pressure regulator, filter, or other inline device. If placed downstream of other components, it may not be able to vent properly in a backsiphonage event. Recommended order from spigot to RV: spigot → vacuum breaker → pressure regulator → water filter → hose → RV city water inlet.
