The Camco 48388 is the genuine Eaz-Lift replacement tongue ball and plate for the Eaz-Lift Sway Control system — the ball-and-bracket assembly that mounts to the trailer tongue and serves as the anchor point for the sway control bar. Over time these plates can crack, strip, bend, or corrode from road exposure and repeated sway control engagement, making this a commonly needed service part.
The plate mounts to the trailer tongue via six 3/8" x 1" self-tapping screws (sold separately — Camco part #48389) and is designed to be installed on either the right-side (passenger) or left-side (driver) of the tongue, accommodating the full range of Eaz-Lift sway control configurations. Construction is heavy-duty powder-coated carbon steel with pre-punched holes for straightforward installation without drilling.

Replacing the tongue ball and plate: 1. Remove the existing sway control bar from the tongue ball 2. Remove the six mounting screws securing the old plate to the trailer tongue 3. Position the new 48388 plate on the tongue in the same location and orientation (left or right side as applicable) 4. Secure with six 3/8" x 1" self-tapping screws (Camco #48389, not included) 5. Reattach the sway control bar to the new tongue ball Note: The plate is symmetrical and can be mounted on either side of the tongue — no separate left or right part number is needed.
The 48388 is a service replacement part for Eaz-Lift Sway Control systems only. It is not a universal ball mount or hitch accessory compatible with other sway control brands. Mounting screws are not included — order Camco #48389 (six 3/8" x 1" self-tapping screws) separately if you do not already have them on hand.
