Lippert hydraulic manifolds use multiple cartridge valves, each controlled by its own coil. The coach's control board energizes the appropriate coil to direct fluid to the correct actuator -- a front jack, a rear jack, a slide ram, or a landing gear cylinder. Each coil receives a 12V DC pulse from the control board. If the coil fails (open circuit, short to ground, or burned winding), the valve stays in its default position and that actuator stops responding.
Diagnosing a bad coil is straightforward: disconnect the connector and measure resistance across the two terminals. A healthy 174184 coil reads approximately 8 ohms. An open circuit (OL) or a reading near zero indicates a failed coil that needs replacement.
