🔧 Step-by‑Step Installation for H279 Door Support

1. Locate pivot point on cabinet frame

  • With the cabinet door held open or removed, measure 5½ inches down from the inside top frame and mark the vertical centerline of that frame. That’s where the pivot screw goes into the single‑eye barrel of the strut rv

  • Use a single screw (preferably pilot‑drilled) — loose enough to allow the strut to pivot, tight enough to hold it in place.

2. Orient the support

  • The strut’s mounting flange should sit with its flush side facing outward (i.e. towards you, the cabinet front)

3. Position bracket on the door

  • Let the door swing down to your desired open angle.

  • Lay the strut bracket against the interior of the door (make sure it’s straight and not rubbing the frame), then mark the two screw holes at the bracket’s center points. Drill pilot holes if needed, and confirm the screws won’t poke through the door

4. Secure the door end

  • Screw in the flange to the door. Tighten and test—door should close smoothly, and support shouldn’t bind.

5. Test and adjust

  • Swing the door open and closed to check clearance and any rubbing.

  • Adjust pivot screw or bracket position slightly until door operates cleanly. For heavier doors, two struts per door can be necessary

Optional: use a jig if you're doing multiple doors

Build a simple jig (like a plywood guide) to speed up marking multiple struts exactly. Good idea if you're outfitting several overhead doors.

There’s a YouTube video showing exactly how to install these without instructions. It goes through the pivot placement, marking the door, and finishing the install:
