SuperSteer SS701 Rear Trac Bar for Sprinter 3500

Dramatically reduces sway and improves steering control by positively centering the rear axle. Stops the push-pull effect from passing trucks and crosswinds. For Dodge/Mercedes/Freightliner Sprinter 3500 dual rear wheels.

Cross Winds and Passing Trucks Don't Have to Be a White Knuckle Experience!

Put your white knuckle driving in the past with the SuperSteer SS701 Rear Trac Bar. Almost every Sprinter 3500 owner has experienced that uneasy feeling that occurs when the steering wheel is turned suddenly - a swinging motion that threatens your control over the vehicle. You're cruising down the highway when a semi blows past, and suddenly your coach lurches sideways. Or a crosswind hits, and you're fighting to keep the vehicle centered in your lane.

Our rear trac bar puts an end to that "Tail Wagging the Dog" sensation, greatly improving stability, driver control, and safety. The SuperSteer SS701 Rear Trac Bar prevents side-to-side motion of the rear axle, giving you safer and happier Sprinter driving.

SuperSteer testing on a 2021 Winnebago Navion measured approximately 1/8" of rear axle side movement before installing the SS701. After installation, that movement was reduced to about 1/32" - a 75% reduction in unwanted side shift. While 3/32" may not sound like much, when you consider how little steering input it takes to change lanes, that reduction transforms passing trucks and crosswinds from a huge push to a slight nudge.

🚀 What Does a Trac Bar Do?

A trac bar (also known as a Panhard rod) is a suspension stabilizer that controls side-to-side motion in a solid rear axle. On a coil spring or air spring suspension like the Sprinter 3500, the springs allow some lateral movement of the axle. Without a trac bar, the axle can shift sideways relative to the chassis frame.

Why does this matter? When the rear axle shifts sideways, it changes the effective wheelbase and steering geometry, creating that unnerving "tail wagging" feeling. This is especially noticeable when hit by crosswinds or when large trucks pass you on the highway.

How the SS701 fixes this: The trac bar connects the rear axle to the chassis frame, preventing unwanted lateral movement while still allowing the suspension to travel up and down for ride comfort. By positively centering the rear axle, the SS701 eliminates the side shift that causes oversteering, constant correction, and white-knuckle driving.

Real-world results: SuperSteer testing showed a 75% reduction in rear axle side movement after installing the SS701. On the road, this translates to dramatically improved stability when passing or being passed by large trucks, much better control in crosswinds, and more responsive, predictable steering.

⚠️ CRITICAL FITMENT REQUIREMENTS

Before ordering, verify your vehicle meets ALL requirements:

1. Exhaust Must Exit AHEAD of Rear Axle:
If your exhaust exits behind the rear axle, the tailpipe MUST be modified to provide clearance. This is NOT optional.

2. Dual Rear Wheels ONLY:
Does NOT fit single rear wheel models.

3. Does NOT Fit With Airbags:
Not compatible with aftermarket air suspension systems.

4. Check Clearance Behind Rear Axle:
Components installed by coach builders (propane tanks, generators, hydraulic jacks, etc.) may prevent installation.

5. Hellwig Sway Bar Users:
If you have a Hellwig rear sway bar with non-OEM U-brackets, different fasteners may be required.

6. Van Compass Agile Leaf Springs:
Require longer bolts - see installation instructions.

📊 Proven Results: 75% Reduction in Side Movement

SuperSteer Testing on 2021 Winnebago Navion:

Before SS701 Installation:
Approximately 1/8" of rear axle side movement

After SS701 Installation:
Approximately 1/32" of rear axle side movement

Improvement:
75% reduction in unwanted side shift

Real-World Impact:
What was a huge push from passing semis became a slight nudge. Crosswinds went from white-knuckle experiences to minor corrections. The Sprinter felt much less like a big sail going down the road.

Best Results: When combined with SS110 rear sway bar and SS88-1889 adjustable rear shocks, the complete suspension package reduced body roll by 50% in stationary testing.
