Valterra A10-7W6 Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Blade Trailer Cord — 6 Feet, Trailer End, Molded Connector with Bare Wire Leads

Valterra A10-7W6 Mighty Cord 7-Way RV Blade Trailer Cord, 6 Feet, Trailer End, Molded Connector with Bare Wire Leads

Trailer-end 7-way RV blade connector cord for manufacturing or repairing trailer wiring. Molded 7-way plug on one end, bare wire leads on the other for direct hardwiring into the trailer electrical system. Durable molded rubber construction with corrosion-resistant terminals. 10/2, 12/1, 14/4 wire configuration. 6-foot length.

Why Choose the Valterra A10-7W6 7-Way Trailer Cord?

The 7-way RV blade connector is the standard electrical connection between a tow vehicle and a modern trailer — carrying circuits for tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, electric brakes, battery charging, reverse lights, and ground across all seven pins. When a trailer's factory 7-way plug is damaged, corroded, or physically broken, or when building a new trailer wiring harness from scratch, the A10-7W6 provides a reliable, durable replacement cord with the molded plug already built on.

The A10-7W6 is a trailer-end cord — the molded 7-way RV blade plug connects to the tow vehicle's 7-way socket, while the opposite end of the 6-foot cord terminates in bare wire leads that are hardwired directly into the trailer's electrical circuits. This design makes it ideal both for replacing a damaged factory trailer plug and for new wiring installations on trailers being built or rewired. The molded rubber construction protects the connector internals from moisture and debris, and corrosion-resistant terminals maintain reliable electrical contact over years of outdoor use.

🔌 Molded 7-Way RV Blade Plug

Factory-molded 7-way RV blade connector on one end — connects to any standard 7-way RV socket on the tow vehicle

✂ī¸ Bare Wire Leads for Hardwiring

Seven bare wire leads on the opposite end connect directly into the trailer's electrical circuits — for new installation or replacement of a damaged plug

đŸ›Ąī¸ Molded Rubber Construction

Durable molded rubber body and corrosion-resistant terminals withstand outdoor exposure, moisture, and the elements at trailer connections

📐 6-Foot Length

6 feet of cord provides adequate reach for most standard trailer tongue lengths — also available in 8-foot (A10-7W8) and 10-foot (A10-7W10) versions

â„šī¸ 7-Way RV Blade Connector — Pin Functions and Wire Colors

The RV-style 7-way blade connector carries seven circuits between the tow vehicle and trailer. Standard pin assignments and typical wire colors on the A10-7W6:

Pin 1 — Ground: White wire — common ground for all trailer electrical circuits
Pin 2 — Electric Brakes: Blue wire — powers the trailer's electric brake controller signal
Pin 3 — Running/Tail Lights: Brown wire — trailer running lights and tail lights
Pin 4 — Left Turn / Brake: Yellow wire — left turn signal and brake light
Pin 5 — Right Turn / Brake: Green wire — right turn signal and brake light
Pin 6 — Auxiliary / Battery Charge: Black wire — 12V power for charging the trailer's battery and powering breakaway switch
Pin 7 — Reverse Lights / Backup: Purple wire — reverse/backup light circuit

Wire colors may vary slightly by manufacturer. Always verify circuit assignments with a test light or multimeter before finalizing connections.

âš ī¸ Trailer-End Cord Only — Not a Tow Vehicle Connector

The A10-7W6 is a trailer-end connector — the molded 7-way plug connects to the tow vehicle's 7-way socket, and the bare wire leads hardwire into the trailer's electrical system. It does not connect to the tow vehicle's wiring harness directly.

If you need a tow vehicle-side 7-way connector (the socket that mounts on the truck bumper or hitch), see the Valterra A10-7082VP or similar vehicle-end connector.

Length selection: 6 feet is appropriate for most standard bumper-pull trailers with a normal-length tongue. For 5th wheel or gooseneck trailers with a longer run from the trailer's electrical junction to the pigtail end, or for trailers with longer tongues, consider the A10-7W8 (8 foot) or A10-7W10 (10 foot).

Wire configuration note: The A10-7W6 uses a 10/2, 12/1, 14/4 wire gauge configuration — the heavier gauge wires (10 AWG) carry the higher-current circuits (battery charging/auxiliary and electric brakes), while the lighter gauges serve the lower-current lighting circuits.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Trailer-End 7-Way RV Blade Connector: Molded plug connects to the tow vehicle's 7-way socket — installs on the trailer
  • Bare Wire Leads for Hardwiring: Seven bare wire leads on the cord end connect directly to the trailer's wiring — suitable for new wiring builds and plug replacements
  • 6-Foot Cord Length: Appropriate for most standard bumper-pull trailer tongues
  • 10/2, 12/1, 14/4 Wire Configuration: Heavier gauge wires for high-current circuits (brake controller, auxiliary power) and lighter gauge for lighting circuits
  • Durable Molded Rubber Construction: Factory-molded connector body protects internal contacts from moisture, dust, and road grime
  • Corrosion-Resistant Terminals: Maintains reliable contact through years of outdoor exposure at trailer connections
  • For Manufacturing or Repair: Suitable for new trailer wiring builds and replacement of damaged or corroded factory plugs
  • Universal 7-Way RV Blade Standard: Fits any tow vehicle with a standard 7-way RV blade socket
  • Also Available: A10-7W8 (8 foot) and A10-7W10 (10 foot) for longer reach applications
  • Valterra Mighty Cord Brand — Since 1981

📋 Installation Overview

Replacing a Damaged Trailer Plug or Wiring New:

1. Disconnect Trailer: Ensure the trailer is disconnected from the tow vehicle and the battery is disconnected before beginning any wiring work

2. Remove Old Plug (If Replacing): Cut the old plug from the harness, leaving enough wire to identify each circuit. Note or photograph the existing wire color assignments before cutting

3. Strip and Match Leads: Strip the bare wire leads on the new A10-7W6 cord and match each lead to the corresponding circuit in the trailer's harness — use the standard wire color assignments (white=ground, blue=brakes, etc.) and verify with a test light

4. Connect and Secure: Connect each lead using appropriate connectors (heat-shrink butt connectors recommended for outdoor durability) — avoid crimping bare wires together without proper connectors

5. Route and Secure Cord: Route the cord along the trailer tongue and secure with wire clips or cable ties — avoid routing near hot exhaust or moving parts

6. Test All Circuits: Reconnect the battery, connect to the tow vehicle, and test all seven circuits before towing

Always verify circuit assignments with a test light or multimeter before finalizing connections.
