Give your Equal-i-zer weight-distribution and sway-control setup the right starting point. This solid steel shank handles both the drop and rise measurement in one piece, bolts into any standard 2" receiver tube, and adjusts in 1-1/4" increments so you can dial in a perfectly level trailer hitch. Ideal for replacing a lost or worn shank or for upgrading to a different drop/rise combination when you switch tow vehicles.
A hitch that isn't level puts stress on your coupler, accelerates tire wear, and shifts the tongue weight balance of your trailer. The Equal-i-zer 90-02-4400 shank takes the guesswork out by offering both a 9" drop and a 13" rise on a single 12"-long bar -- giving you the flexibility to mount the head at the correct height whether your tow vehicle sits high or low relative to the trailer coupler.
The shank is sold separately from the Equal-i-zer head, making it the right purchase when you need only the receiver bar portion -- for example, when buying a head-only Equal-i-zer unit, replacing a damaged shank, or running the same hitch head on a second vehicle with different receiver height.
Machined from solid steel bar stock, not hollow tube. Corrosion-resistant dip coating protects against road moisture and salt.
Mounting holes spaced every 1-1/4" through the center of the shank let you fine-tune head height to match your specific tow vehicle and trailer combo.
9" drop and 13" rise on one shank -- flip or reposition the head to achieve the correct coupler alignment without buying two separate bars.
Fits any standard 2" receiver tube and works with Equal-i-zer 6K, 10K, 12K, and 14K hitch heads. Also compatible with many other brands of adjustable hitch heads.
This is a shank-only purchase -- the Equal-i-zer hitch head (the spring arm assembly) is sold separately. This part is the right buy if you:
The hitch head mounts to the shank through a series of holes spaced 1-1/4" on center along the vertical section of the bar. Changing the hole position raises or lowers the hitch head in 1-1/4" steps -- a meaningful range that lets you split the difference when the "standard" drop or rise isn't quite right for your setup.
The shank is dipped in a corrosion-resistant coating after machining. This provides a base layer of protection against moisture, road spray, and light surface rust for the life of a typical RV towing season. Inspect the coating annually and touch up any chips with a cold-galvanizing compound or rust-inhibiting paint to maintain protection in high-salt environments.
