A wrench-free, safety-rated propane pigtail hose designed specifically for connecting the Marshall Excelsior MEGR-253 or MEGR-253H two-stage regulator to a standard LP cylinder. Built with dual safety features -- excess flow shutoff and a heat-sensitive displacement fitting -- this hose is a required component of any properly configured dual-cylinder RV propane system.
The MECMER426H-15 pigtail hose is engineered for motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and on-demand LP water heaters. The hand-tightenable female QCC (Quick Check Connector) Type 1 fitting threads directly onto a standard LP cylinder valve -- no wrench required. A swiveling nylon nut makes alignment and connection straightforward even in tight propane compartments.
Inside the brass nipple at the cylinder connection is a flow-limiting excess flow device. If a downstream failure causes gas flow to spike beyond safe limits, the device automatically restricts flow to a maximum bypass rate of 10 SCFH, protecting your system and coach from uncontrolled gas release.
Between 240 F and 300 F, the brass nipple displaces approximately 1/4 inch, mechanically closing the cylinder valve module and stopping gas flow from the container in a fire or high-heat event.
Built-in flow limiter detects abnormal downstream demand. If excess flow is sensed, the hose restricts output to a 10 SCFH bypass maximum until the condition is resolved.
Female QCC Type 1 swivel nut hand-tightens directly to a standard ACME-threaded LP cylinder valve -- no tools required, no POL adapter needed.
1/4-inch ID high-pressure thermoplastic hose body with brass ferrules handles up to 350 PSIG working pressure and is 100% factory leak tested before shipment.
This pigtail is specifically engineered to mate with the Marshall Excelsior MEGR-253 and MEGR-253H two-stage automatic changeover regulators. In a standard dual-cylinder RV setup, one pigtail connects each LP tank to the regulator. When the primary tank empties, the regulator automatically switches to the reserve -- the pigtail's QCC fitting allows the spent tank to be swapped without any tools.
It is also compatible with on-demand (tankless) LP hot water heaters and other high-BTU LP appliances that require a direct cylinder-to-regulator connection rated for high flow.
This pigtail hose meets the requirements of RVIA (Recreational Vehicle Industry Association) standards and NFPA 1192, the Standard on Recreational Vehicles. These certifications matter for insurance compliance, RV park entry, and ensuring your propane system was built to recognized safety codes.
