Bilstein 24-185394 B6 4600 Series Rear Shock — Toyota Tundra 1999–2006

Bilstein 24-185394 B6 4600 Series Rear Shock Absorber — Toyota Tundra (1999–2006)

Direct-fit OE upgrade rear shock for 1999–2006 first-generation Toyota Tundra at stock height. Fits 2WD and 4WD. Standard chassis only — excludes air leveling / Nivomat suspension. Hardware included (lower spring mount only). Made in the USA.

Why Choose the Bilstein B6 4600 Rear Shock for Your First-Gen Tundra?

The Bilstein 24-185394 B6 4600 Series Rear Shock Absorber is a direct-fit OE upgrade for the first-generation Toyota Tundra — one of the most capable and respected mid-size truck platforms of its era. Built from 1999 through 2006, the first-gen Tundra was Toyota's serious entry into the full-size truck segment, and many of them are still in daily service with well over 100,000 miles on the clock. At those miles, worn factory rear shocks are a near-certainty — and the 4600 series is the right upgrade to restore and exceed the truck's original rear suspension performance.

Precisely valved for the first-gen Tundra at stock height, this shock improves rear axle control under towing and payload loads, delivers a more settled highway ride, and gives the truck the composed, confident rear-end feel that makes a real difference on daily drives and loaded hauls alike.

🔧 Direct OE Rear Replacement

Stem upper / eyelet lower — direct bolt-on replacement at stock height for both 2WD and 4WD first-gen Tundras

🏔️ 46mm Monotube Design

Fade-free rear damping under towing and payload loads — consistent performance whether empty or loaded

🛻 2WD & 4WD Compatible

Fits both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive first-gen Tundra configurations at stock height

🇺🇸 Made in the USA

Designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA. Backed by Bilstein's limited lifetime warranty

Key Features & Benefits

  • Direct-Fit OE Upgrade: Bolt-on rear shock replacement for stock-height first-gen Tundra trucks — no spring changes or modifications required
  • Fits 2WD & 4WD: Compatible with both two-wheel and four-wheel drive Tundra configurations
  • Improved Ride Quality, Handling & Traction: Significant upgrade over worn factory rear shocks for highway composure, rear traction, and load control
  • 46mm Monotube Construction: Larger working piston provides more precise rear damping and better heat dissipation than twin-tube designs
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: High-pressure nitrogen with floating piston prevents oil aeration and heat fade for consistent performance mile after mile
  • Velocity-Sensitive Deflective Disc Valving: Adjusts damping response automatically to road conditions and rear axle loading
  • Increases Rear Suspension Carrying Capacity: Better handles the rear axle loads of towing and hauling on the first-gen Tundra platform
  • Hardware Included (Lower Spring Mount): Includes the lower spring mount — original factory rubber bushings and steel washers from the old shock are reused during installation
  • Standard Chassis Only: Designed for the standard suspension configuration — not for vehicles with factory air leveling or Nivomat self-leveling suspension
  • Polished Steel Rod: Corrosion-resistant for long service life
  • Includes Blue Boot: Protective boot included
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty
  • Made in the USA

🚫 Not Compatible With These Configurations

This shock is not compatible with first-gen Tundras equipped with:

Air Leveling Suspension: Factory air suspension or air leveling systems
Nivomat Self-Leveling Suspension: Factory Nivomat (self-leveling) rear suspension option

Verify your Tundra's rear suspension configuration before ordering. Trucks with these options require a different part number.

⚠️ Before You Order — Key Notes

Hardware Note: This shock includes the lower spring mount only. Your original factory rubber bushings and steel washers are reused from the old shock during installation — do not discard them before removal.

Sold Individually: One shock absorber per package. Order qty 2 for a complete rear axle replacement.

Stock Height Only: The B6 4600 Series is for stock-height applications only. For lifted first-gen Tundras, see the Bilstein B8 5100 series for this platform.

Generation Specific: This shock is for the first-generation Tundra (1999–2006). For the second-generation Tundra (2007–2021), different part numbers apply.
