The Blue Ox BX7421 Avail is the updated Class IV tow bar for flat towing larger cars, SUVs, and light trucks up to 10,000 lbs — replacing the popular BX7420 with an improved turning radius for better cornering and smoother towing over rough roads. The adjustable arm span (16" to 38") accommodates both wide and narrow towed vehicles without additional hardware, making the Avail a versatile choice across a range of dinghy vehicle widths.
Self-aligning arms simplify hookup — no precise positioning required. Blue Ox's patented non-binding latches release cleanly even after rough terrain towing. Rubber boots on the legs keep dirt and debris out of the sliding mechanism. No centering pin means easier stowing and storage on the motorhome's receiver between uses. The Metamorphic Rock finish uses Blue Ox's two-stage e-coat plus powder coat process for lasting corrosion and UV protection.
Rated for larger cars, half-ton pickups, and SUVs — a significant step up from the 8,500 lb Alpha for heavier dinghy vehicles
Adjustable arm span accommodates both wide and narrow towed vehicles without additional hardware
Enhanced cornering performance over the previous BX7420 — smoother towing over rough roads and tighter turns
Blue Ox's signature quick-disconnect latches — release cleanly even after rough terrain, low-profile handle design
Protective boots keep dirt and debris out of the leg sliding mechanism — smooth operation in all conditions
Eliminated centering pin makes stowing and storing on the motorhome's receiver faster and simpler
The BX7421 tow bar is one component of a complete flat towing system. A full setup also requires: Baseplate: Vehicle-specific baseplate installed on the dinghy vehicle's front chassis — sold separately. Blue Ox offers vehicle-specific baseplates for most flat-towable vehicles. Electrical/Lighting: Wiring harness or diode kit to pass brake and signal lights to the dinghy vehicle — required by law, sold separately. Supplemental Braking: Many states require a supplemental brake system in the dinghy vehicle — check your state's laws before towing. Tow Bar Cover (optional): Blue Ox tow bar cover protects the Avail during storage on the motorhome between trips — sold separately.
