The Camco 44340 is the keyed version of Camco's 5/8" baggage compartment cam lock — the direct step up from the non-locking thumb-turn 44333. Where the 44333 closes the door with a thumb turn that anyone can operate, the 44340 requires a key to rotate the cam, providing genuine security for the compartment contents. Two keys are included.
The cylinder is 5/8" long and requires a 3/4" diameter mounting hole, identical to the 44333. Both a straight cam and an offset cam are included so the installer can choose whichever engages the compartment door jamb correctly. The cam plate measures 2" total length with 1-5/8" extending past the lock core. It fits door panels up to 5/8" thick with the straight cam or up to 1-1/16" with the offset cam. Ideal for new installations or direct replacement of an existing 5/8" keyed cam lock.
Three measurements determine fit: 1. Cylinder length (5/8"): Distance from the door face to the back of the cylinder — measure your existing lock or door backset. 2. Mounting hole diameter (3/4"): Diameter of the hole in the door panel. 3. Door thickness: Straight cam handles up to 5/8"; offset cam handles up to 1-1/16". Each 44340 lock is keyed individually — multiple locks ordered separately will not share the same key. If you need multiple compartments to open with the same key, you will need to source keyed-alike locks as a set rather than ordering individual 44340 units. Note the key code stamped on your lock cylinder if you need replacement keys made in the future.
