It replaces a standard static vent cap with a dynamically engineered, self-rotating cover that adjusts automatically to any wind direction.
A standard static sewer vent cap does nothing to encourage airflow -- it just keeps rain and debris out. The Cyclone goes further. Its sculpted housing catches wind from any direction and converts it into a rotational vortex that pulls air upward through the vent stack. This negative pressure effect means odors from your black and gray holding tanks are continuously drawn out rather than allowed to backflow into your living space or drift across your campsite.
Installation is a roof job, but it is straightforward for anyone comfortable working at height. The cap is designed to slip over and secure to a standard 1-1/2 in. Schedule 40 PVC vent pipe -- the size used on the vast majority of RV holding tank vents. Silicone caulk seals the base, and a pair of screws locks it in place. No special plumbing tools are required.

The curved fins on the Cyclone housing are shaped to catch lateral wind and redirect it into a rotational force. As the cap spins, the internal chamber creates a low-pressure zone above the vent pipe opening. That pressure differential acts like a passive exhaust fan -- no electricity, no batteries, no moving parts beyond the cap's own rotation bearing. Even a light 5-10 mph breeze is enough to generate meaningful draw through the vent stack.
In still-air conditions, the cap provides the same passive venting as a standard vent cover. It does not seal the pipe or restrict gravity-assisted airflow.
Unlike fixed directional wind caps, the Cyclone's free-spinning design means you do not have to orient it during installation. It self-adjusts constantly, so your rig's position relative to prevailing winds does not matter.
Camco recommends installation on a level surface for best results. You will need the following tools and materials -- none of which are included with the cap:
Remove your existing vent cap, clean the pipe flange and surrounding roof surface, apply a bead of silicone around the base perimeter, press the Cyclone into position over the 1-1/2 in. pipe, and drive the securing screws. Allow silicone to cure per the caulk manufacturer's instructions before exposing to rain.
This cap is designed for 1-1/2 in. PVC vent pipe. If your RV uses a 3 in. vent pipe -- common on some older Class A coaches and certain diesel pushers -- measure before ordering. Camco offers vent caps for larger pipe sizes in their accessory line.
Inspect the rotation bearing annually, especially after winter storage. Rinse the cap with fresh water to clear road grime or pollen that can slow the spin. The UV-resistant resin requires no coating or treatment.
