Classic mini scissor-style tire locking chock for tandem axle trailers. Fits between tires with at least 2-1/2" of clearance. Opens to 10" to lock against both tires simultaneously. Ratchet wrench included.
The BAL 28005 Deluxe Tire Locking Chock is the original patented BAL tandem axle tire chock — a mini scissor-jack-style device that fits between the tires on a tandem axle and applies opposing force to both tires simultaneously to lock the wheels and prevent trailer movement. It was the product that defined the between-tire chock category and directly inspired BAL's X-Chock line, which BAL describes as building on where the Deluxe Tire Locking Chock left off.
The 28005 requires a minimum of 2-1/2" of clearance between the tires to fit, and opens to 10" — the same maximum extension as the X-Chock 28010. The ratchet wrench included turns a central drive nut to extend the chock's arms against both tires for locking and retract them for removal. It is sold individually; most owners use one per tandem axle pair, or two for maximum front-to-rear stability.
• 1x BAL 28005 Deluxe Tire Locking Chock • 1x Plated ratchet wrench (Model 841025) Also in the BAL chock family: • 28000A — Standard Tire Locking Chock (15-1/4" to 23-1/8", floor-mounted) • 28010 — X-Chock Standard, single (extends to 10", slimmer profile) • 28012 — X-Chock Standard, 2-pack • 28014 — X-Tended Fit X-Chock, single (extends to 17") • 28024 — X-Tended Fit X-Chock, 2-pack
The 28005 requires at least 2-1/2" of clearance between the facing sidewalls of your tandem tires to fit into position. Measure your tire gap before ordering. If your tires are spaced too tightly for the 28005, the X-Chock 28010 may be a better fit — its slimmer profile retracts down to just 1-3/8" and is designed to fit tighter axle applications while offering the same 10" maximum extension.
BAL describes the X-Chock as building on where the Deluxe Tire Locking Chock left off — with a slimmer profile that fits more axle applications and a design that works with the tires' natural movement rather than rigidly locking against them. For tight axle clearances under 2-1/2", the X-Chock 28010 is the better fit.
