About the Cavagna 91-A-490-0002

The Cavagna 91-A-490-0002 is a single-stage high-pressure propane regulator — built for applications that require a PSI-level output rather than the low water column pressure used by standard RV and household propane appliances. Where low-pressure regulators deliver 11" WC (roughly 0.4 PSI) for furnaces, ranges, and water heaters, this regulator delivers 30 PSI — the output level required by high-BTU outdoor burners, turkey fryers, propane smokers, wok burners, and similar high-pressure cooking equipment.

From Cavagna Group — the same OEM propane regulator supplier behind many factory-installed RV units. The 91-A-490-0002 is a single-stage design in a compact vertical-mount body. 1/4" FNPT on both inlet and outlet. Overpressure protection device limits environmental propane release to less than 2 PSI in the event of regulator malfunction. UL and CSA listed. 60-month limited warranty.

For low-pressure RV appliances (not this regulator):
52-A-490-0018 — Cavagna two-stage, 11" WC, 1/4" FNPT x 3/8" FNPT
52-A-490-0019 — Same with shut-off valve

📋 High Pressure vs. Low Pressure — Which Do You Need?

High pressure (this regulator — 30 PSI):
For appliances specifically designed for high-pressure propane input — outdoor turkey fryers, propane smokers, large wok burners, high-BTU outdoor cookers. These appliances have their own built-in pressure management and require 10–30+ PSI input.

Low pressure (11" WC / ~0.4 PSI):
For standard RV and household propane appliances — furnaces, water heaters, ranges, stoves, refrigerators. These require the stable low-pressure output of a two-stage regulator.

Using a high-pressure regulator on a low-pressure appliance can damage it or create a hazardous condition. Always confirm your appliance's required inlet pressure before selecting a regulator.

⚠️ High-Pressure Output — Not for Standard RV Appliances

The 91-A-490-0002 delivers 30 PSI — far higher than the 11" WC (~0.4 PSI) required by standard RV propane appliances. Do not connect this regulator to RV furnaces, water heaters, ranges, or other low-pressure appliances. It is also not approved for permanent RV installation.

For RV system regulators, see the Cavagna 52-A-490-0018 two-stage low-pressure regulator.
