Cavagna UL/CGA Approved Thermal Protection Cavagna 50-A-190-0033 ACME RV Pigtail Hose -- 15" x 1/4" ID

A safety-rated propane pigtail hose built for two-cylinder RV systems. The Cavagna 50-A-190-0033 connects a Type 1 ACME nut on the cylinder end to a 1/4" male NPT fitting on the regulator end, with a built-in excess flow device and heat-sensitive thermal shutoff for added protection on the road or at the campsite.

Reliable LP Gas Connection for Two-Cylinder Setups

Most RV propane systems run two cylinders -- one active, one in reserve -- connected through an automatic changeover regulator or a standard two-stage regulator with "T" check connections. The pigtail hose is the flexible link between the cylinder valve and the regulator inlet, and it takes abuse: vibration, UV exposure, and repeated connect/disconnect cycles. Cavagna builds this one to handle it.

The 50-A-190-0033 is a direct-use replacement or OEM-style hose for any two-cylinder LP system using a Type 1 ACME inlet. At 15 inches, it provides enough slack for cylinder removal and replacement without straining the regulator connection.

Excess Flow Device

Automatically limits gas flow if the hose ruptures or is accidentally disconnected, reducing risk of uncontrolled LP release.

Thermal Shutoff at 240F

A heat-sensitive plug shuts off gas flow automatically if hose temperature exceeds 240 deg F, guarding against fire-related failure.

Type 1 ACME x 1/4" Male NPT

Standard connection pairing for two-cylinder RV regulator systems. ACME nut threads onto the cylinder POL valve adapter; NPT end threads into the regulator inlet.

UL/CGA Approved

Meets UL and CGA safety standards for LP gas hose assemblies. Acceptable for use in regulated campgrounds and RV parks.

What This Hose Connects

The ACME nut (Type 1) end threads onto a standard propane cylinder valve -- the same connection used on 20 lb and 30 lb DOT cylinders common on travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes. The 1/4" male NPT end connects to the inlet port of a double-stage automatic changeover regulator or a standard two-stage regulator with "T" check connections.

This is a high-pressure hose segment -- it carries LP gas at cylinder pressure before the regulator steps it down to appliance pressure. It is not a low-pressure appliance hose and should not be substituted for one downstream of the regulator.

Excess Flow Protection: If the hose is severed, kinked severely, or pulled free under pressure, the internal excess flow device trips and restricts gas flow to a trickle -- significantly reducing the volume of LP released in an accident.
Typical Application: Two-cylinder travel trailer or fifth wheel propane systems using a Cavagna, Marshall Excelsior, Rego, or equivalent automatic changeover regulator. Also fits standard two-stage regulators with dual ACME inlets.

Installation Notes

  • Hand-tighten the ACME nut onto the cylinder valve first, then snug with a wrench -- do not overtighten.
  • Thread the 1/4" NPT end into the regulator inlet with approved thread sealant (yellow PTFE tape rated for LP gas, or equivalent paste sealant). Do not use standard white plumber's tape.
  • After connection, check for leaks with approved LP gas leak detector solution before use.
  • Route hose to avoid sharp bends, pinch points, and contact with exhaust or engine heat sources.
  • Replace pigtail hoses at the first sign of cracking, stiffness, abrasion, or discoloration. Most manufacturers recommend replacement every 5-7 years regardless of visible condition.
High-Pressure Hose: This hose carries gas at full cylinder pressure (up to 200+ PSI depending on temperature and fill level). Never use for downstream appliance connections. Inspect before each trip.
Maintenance Tip: Store cylinders upright and cap the ACME valve when not connected. UV and ozone exposure degrade rubber hose cores over time -- store your rig out of direct sunlight when possible to extend hose life.

Important Information
  • This is a HIGH-PRESSURE hose -- it carries LP gas at full cylinder pressure before the regulator. Do not use it downstream of a regulator or as an appliance connection hose.
  • Always check all connections for leaks with an approved LP gas leak detector solution after installation or reconnection. Never use an open flame to test for leaks.
  • The Type 1 ACME nut uses left-hand threads -- turn counterclockwise to tighten onto the cylinder valve. Forcing right-hand threading will damage the fitting.
  • Use only LP-rated PTFE tape or approved thread sealant on the 1/4" NPT end. Standard plumber's tape is not rated for LP gas service.
  • Inspect the hose before every trip. Cracks, bulges, stiffness, or any visible damage require immediate replacement -- do not attempt to repair a damaged LP hose.
  • Do not exceed the hose's rated service conditions. Keep away from heat sources, sharp edges, and moving parts.
  • Regulator is NOT included. This listing is for the pigtail hose only.
