The GE GRHS15XAHB adds a full heat pump circuit, so when fall temperatures drop into the upper 20s, you can run electric heat instead of firing up your propane furnace. That means lower propane consumption on longer trips, less furnace run time, and one less thing to maintain heading into cold weather.
The unit runs on R32 refrigerant, which carries roughly 70% lower global warming potential than R410A and zero ozone depletion potential. It is a direct upgrade path from the GE ARH15AACB cool-only rooftop unit and fits the same standard 14-inch x 14-inch RV roof opening used by most Coleman, Dometic, and legacy GE rooftop units -- though an upgrade kit is required for most swap installations.

A heat pump moves heat rather than generating it, making it far more efficient than resistance heating at temperatures above freezing. At 40F outside, a heat pump can deliver 2 to 3 units of heat energy for every unit of electricity consumed. Once outdoor temps drop below 25F, the refrigerant cycle loses enough efficiency that auxiliary heat -- your furnace -- takes over. This makes the GRHS15XAHB ideal for three-season camping and southern winter travel, not for sub-freezing alpine winters.
Full-timers and snowbirds who camp in 30F to 55F conditions overnight can dramatically reduce propane furnace runtime. The heat pump runs on shore power or a properly sized generator, leaving propane reserves for cooking, water heating, and emergency backup heat.
R32 is a single-component HFC refrigerant (not a blend), which makes it easier to recharge in the field without fractionation concerns. It is classified as A2L -- mildly flammable -- meaning service must be performed by a certified technician using R32-rated equipment. It is not interchangeable with R410A or R22, and R410A recovery equipment cannot be used on R32 systems without recertification.
R32 is an A2L mildly flammable refrigerant. Refrigerant service, recovery, and recharge must be performed by a technician certified to handle A2L refrigerants with appropriate R32-rated equipment. Do not attempt to service the refrigerant circuit yourself.
The GRHS15XAHB is designed to fit the standard 14-inch x 14-inch RV roof cutout used on the majority of Class A, Class C, fifth wheels, and travel trailers. It is a direct replacement for the GE ARH15AACB cool-only model. For installations replacing a non-GE unit (Coleman, Dometic, older Carrier units), a GE upgrade/adapter kit is required to properly seal the roof opening and secure the new unit. Verify that your existing ceiling assembly and duct adapter are compatible before ordering.
An upgrade kit (sold separately) is required when installing this unit in place of a non-GE rooftop AC or when the existing roof gasket and mounting hardware are not GE-compatible. Installing without the correct kit may result in air leaks, roof damage, or improper mounting. Confirm compatibility with GE Appliances technical support or your RV dealer before installation.
The GRHS15XAHB is designed to pair with GE-compatible ceiling assemblies and thermostats. It is not directly compatible with Coleman ADB, Dometic Single Zone CT, or other proprietary thermostat protocols without an adapter. Confirm that your existing ceiling assembly -- the interior unit that houses the fan, filter, and thermostat -- is compatible with the GE rooftop unit before completing your order.
