The Lippert 700156 is the genuine OneControl replacement controller assembly for Power Gear In-Wall® (Schwintek) slide-out systems — the dual-motor in-wall slide design found across a wide range of travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes from Grand Design, Keystone, Forest River, Heartland, Thor, and many other manufacturers. When the controller fails, the slide-out system becomes inoperable: neither motor will run, error codes may appear, or the slide tracks erratically. The 700156 restores full synchronized dual-motor operation with Auto Program capability.
The controller is the electronic brain of the In-Wall® slide system. It manages both IG-42 motors simultaneously, tracks each motor's position via encoder feedback, synchronizes their travel to prevent the slide room from racking, and monitors for fault conditions like obstruction or motor overload. The Auto Program feature allows the controller to learn the slide's end-of-travel positions automatically, simplifying setup after replacement. This controller supersedes both 366701 and 644097, making it the current replacement for those earlier part numbers.

The In-Wall® (Schwintek) slide system uses two small IG-42 motors — one in each upper corner of the slide-out wall assembly. Both motors must move at exactly the same rate; if one runs faster than the other, the slide room racks (skews sideways), potentially jamming or damaging the slide mechanism. The controller's job is to prevent this from happening: What the controller manages: • Reads encoder pulses from both motors to track their revolution counts in real time • Compares the two counts on every pulse cycle and adjusts power to the faster or slower motor to keep them matched • Monitors for fault conditions — obstruction (sudden load increase), motor overload, position mismatch beyond tolerance • Reports fault codes that help diagnose the specific failure type (see TI-177 for error code reference) • On Auto Program systems: memorizes the extend and retract endpoint positions so the motors stop automatically at the correct travel limit When the controller fails: Common failure modes include the controller not responding to the wall switch, reporting persistent error codes that don't clear, running only one motor instead of both, or running both motors but failing to stop at the correct end positions. If resynchronization per TI-177 does not resolve the error, the controller is the likely replacement component. Park brake requirement: This controller requires that the RV park brake be engaged before the slide-out will operate — a safety interlock that prevents slide operation while the RV is in motion.
Resynchronization is required after installing the 700156. After controller replacement, both motors must be resynchronized per Lippert Technical Information Sheet TI-177 before operating the slide-out. Running the slide without completing resynchronization will cause the new controller to report errors because it has no stored position data for the motors. TI-177 resynchronization procedure (abbreviated): With the slide fully retracted, press and hold the extend and retract buttons simultaneously until the controller's LED blinks, indicating the sync procedure has initiated. Then run the slide to full extension and full retraction once — the controller stores the end positions. Refer to TI-177 at support.lci1.com for the complete procedure specific to your system. Before ordering, rule out other failure causes: • Read the error code displayed on the controller — TI-177 maps each code to a specific fault. Many codes indicate a motor fault or obstruction, not a controller failure. • Try the resynchronization procedure first — if the existing controller enters an error state after motor replacement or a power interruption, resync per TI-177 may resolve it without replacing the controller • Confirm battery voltage is adequate — the system requires healthy 12V to operate; weak battery mimics controller failure • If only one slide room motor runs but the other doesn't, the non-running motor is more likely the fault than the controller
Important: Resynchronization per TI-177 is required after installation — do not operate the slide before completing the sync procedure. Disconnect RV from shore power and isolate the house battery 3.
