Wheel studs are a safety-critical component. A stripped, corroded, or snapped stud puts your wheel retention at risk, and a mismatched thread pitch or knurl diameter means the stud won't press properly into the hub flange. Lippert part 2023134013 takes the guesswork out: correct 1/2"-20 thread pitch, correct 2" shank length, and a precision 0.617" knurl diameter engineered to press-fit securely into Lippert-compatible trailer hub assemblies.
Zinc plating provides a baseline layer of corrosion resistance suited to outdoor trailer service. The six-pack format means you can replace an entire hub's worth of studs in one order, or keep a few on hand for roadside or shop repairs.
Fine-thread standard used on most trailer axle hubs -- mates correctly with standard 1/2"-20 lug nuts.
Full 2-inch shank provides adequate thread engagement for standard trailer lug nuts without bottoming out in thin flanges.
Precision knurl diameter ensures a tight press-fit into compatible hub flange bores -- resists rotation under torque.
Carbon steel construction with zinc plating for corrosion resistance through normal outdoor trailering seasons.
Lug nuts, hub assemblies, and installation tools are NOT included.
Trailer axles commonly use 1/2"-20 fine thread, while many automotive applications use 1/2"-13 coarse thread. These are NOT interchangeable. Before ordering, confirm your existing studs and lug nuts are 1/2"-20. A lug nut thread gauge or a simple thread count check (20 threads per inch) will confirm compatibility. Using the wrong pitch will cross-thread and damage the hub or lug nut.
Wheel studs are pressed or driven into the hub flange using a hydraulic press or a lug nut-and-socket method (threading on a nut flush with the stud end, then using another nut to pull the stud through). The 0.617" knurl must match the hub bore closely -- oversized knurls require excessive force and can crack a hub flange; undersized knurls allow the stud to spin. Verify your hub bore spec before installation. Lippert's 0.617" knurl is a common dimension on their axle hub families, but always confirm against your specific hub.
If a stud failed due to improper lug nut torque, over-torquing, or impact damage, inspect the hub bore hole for elongation or cracks before pressing in a new stud. A damaged bore will not hold a new stud securely regardless of knurl diameter. Replace the hub assembly if the bore is compromised.
