A propane pigtail is the connection between your RV's propane tank and its regulator — and the MB Sturgis 100575-60-MBS is built around the RV Type 1 (ACME) connector, the modern standard fitting found on most current propane cylinders. This 60" (5 ft) pigtail features a built-in back check valve, which prevents hazardous backflow leakage and makes it suitable for dual-tank setups where two pigtails feed a shared two-stage regulator.
The Type 1 connector provides a higher rate of flow than older POL-style connections, which reduces the chance of the system going into bypass mode and shutting down gas supply during normal use. If flow demand does exceed the connector's 450,000 BTU/hr capacity, an internal ball valve responds by pressing against a spring to shut off flow as a safety measure, rather than allowing an unsafe condition to develop. The opposite end terminates in a 1/4" male inverted flare fitting, designed to thread into the female inverted flare inlet found on most RV propane regulators. Propane pigtails are matched to specific tank and regulator fitting types. Before ordering, confirm: 1. Tank-side connector — Type 1 (ACME) vs. POL: This pigtail uses the modern RV Type 1 (ACME) connector, standard on most current propane tanks. If your tank uses the older POL left-hand-thread connection, you will need a different pigtail or an adapter — this part will not thread onto a POL valve. 2. Regulator-side fitting: The regulator end of this pigtail is a 1/4" male inverted flare. Confirm your regulator has a matching 1/4" female inverted flare inlet. Most regulators instead use 1/4" NPT — if yours does, you will also need a brass NPT-to-inverted-flare adapter fitting, or consider the MB Sturgis 100473 series, which has a male NPT regulator-side fitting built in. 3. Length: This pigtail is 60" (5 ft) long — the longest in the 100575 family. If your tank-to-regulator distance is shorter, a shorter pigtail (12"–48") will route more cleanly with less excess hose to manage. 4. Dual-tank setups: If you have two tanks feeding a single two-stage regulator, you will need two pigtails — one per tank.

Installation Steps: 1. Shut Off Gas Supply: Close the tank valve completely before disconnecting any existing pigtail or making new connections 2. Connect the Type 1 End: Thread the RV Type 1 (ACME) connector onto the propane tank valve and hand-tighten 3. Connect the Inverted Flare End: Thread the 1/4" male inverted flare fitting into the regulator's matching female inlet 4. Manage Excess Hose: With 60" of length, route and secure any excess hose neatly to avoid kinking, pinching, or contact with hot surfaces or moving parts 5. Tighten Securely: Tighten both connections to a secure, leak-free fit without overtightening 6. For Dual-Tank Setups: Repeat installation for the second tank and pigtail, connecting both to the two-stage or automatic changeover regulator's separate inlets 7.
