This protective layer shields the hose from abrasion and, importantly, from rodent damage — small animals are drawn to the warm, sheltered spaces around propane tanks and have been known to chew through unprotected hose material, creating a serious safety hazard. The stainless overbraid puts a durable barrier between teeth and hose.
Like MB Sturgis's standard 100575 pigtail series, the 100833-24-MBS is built around the RV Type 1 (ACME) connector — the modern standard fitting found on most current propane cylinders — and includes a built-in back check valve that prevents hazardous backflow leakage, making it suitable for dual-tank setups where two pigtails feed a shared two-stage regulator. The Type 1 connector provides a higher rate of flow than older POL-style connections, reducing the chance of the system going into bypass mode during normal use. The opposite end terminates in a 1/4" male inverted flare fitting designed to thread into the female inverted flare inlet found on most RV propane regulators. At 24" (2 feet), this is a popular mid-length option in the stainless overbraid lineup, giving installers enough slack to route the hose with a gentle loop rather than pulling it taut — useful when working with auto-changeover regulator brackets or tighter tank spacing.

If your tank uses the older POL left-hand-thread connection, you will need a different pigtail or an adapter — this part will not thread onto a POL valve. 2. Regulator-side fitting: The regulator end of this pigtail is a 1/4" male inverted flare. Confirm your regulator has a matching female inverted flare inlet, often via a brass NPT-to-inverted-flare adapter pre-installed on the regulator. Installation Steps: 1. Shut Off Gas Supply: Close the tank valve completely before disconnecting any existing pigtail or making new connections 2. Connect the Inverted Flare End: Thread the 1/4" male inverted flare fitting into the regulator's matching female inlet 4. Tighten Securely: Tighten both connections to a secure, leak-free fit without overtightening 5. For Dual-Tank Setups: Repeat installation for the second tank and pigtail, connecting both to the two-stage regulator's separate inlets 6.
