CarCover5-Ply Top / 3-Ply SidesFits 37 ft - 41 ft Fifth WheelsGold Shield 5L Fifth Wheel Trailer Cover -- SKU 5RV-5WT-3741

The Gold Shield 5L is a heavy-duty, all-season storage cover engineered specifically for large fifth wheel trailers from 37 to 41 feet in length. Its layered fabric construction blocks UV rays, rain, snow, hail, tree sap, and bird droppings while a breathable micro-porous film lets trapped moisture vapor escape -- preventing mildew and rot during long-term storage. Zippered access panels, adjustable buckle straps, and elasticized hems mean this cover stays put and lets you get inside without a full removal every time.

All-Season Protection Engineered for Large Fifth Wheels

Fifth wheels in the 37-41 foot class are significant investments that spend months parked between trips. A cover that lets moisture build up, sags in crosswinds, or tears on a ladder edge can cause more damage than parking uncovered. The Gold Shield 5L addresses each of those failure points with a purpose-built multi-layer design, reinforced stress points, and practical access features that make daily use realistic -- not just seasonal pull-on storage.

The cover ships in a zippered storage bag and includes a patch kit, so minor field repairs do not sideline your protection. At 25 lbs, it is manageable for a two-person installation on a large rig. Overall cover dimensions are 41.5 ft length x 8.58 ft width x 10.08 ft height, providing enough clearance for slide-out overhangs and up to three rooftop AC units.

5-Ply Top Fabric

UV-resistant polypropylene layers with a micro-porous film core block sun, rain, snow, and hail from the roof down -- where weather hits hardest.

3-Ply Side Panels

Triple-layer side fabric resists crosswind debris and side-angle sun exposure while remaining lightweight enough for manageable installation.

Zippered Access Panels

Access entry doors and exterior compartments without removing the entire cover. Practical for seasonal storage where periodic interior checks are needed.

Triple AC Clearance

Cover height and roof profile accommodate up to three rooftop air conditioning units without creating pressure points or stress tears.

Fabric and Construction Details

The top section uses five bonded layers: outer UV-resistant polypropylene, a micro-porous breathable film, and additional reinforcing plies. This construction blocks over 98% of airborne dirt and dust from reaching painted surfaces while allowing water vapor to escape -- critical for preventing the trapped-moisture mildew cycle that damages sidewalls and roofs during multi-month storage.

Side panels use three-layer construction focused on lateral weather resistance. The extended top layer drops further down the sides than a standard single-layer top, providing runoff coverage against rain and sun reflection on the upper sidewalls.

Breathable Micro-Porous Film: Unlike waterproof tarps that seal moisture in, the Gold Shield 5L's micro-porous film layer allows water vapor to pass outward while blocking liquid water from entering. This is the single most important feature for trailers stored for 60+ days.

Fit and Securing System

Elasticized hems at the front and rear corners pull the cover snug against the fifth wheel pin box end and rear cap, reducing shifting during wind events and preventing corner flapping that causes abrasion to graphics and clearcoat. Adjustable buckle straps with weighted ends cinch down the mid-sections to eliminate billowing, which is the primary cause of premature fabric fatigue on long covers.

Ladder Cap and Gutter Covers Included: Sharp ladder rungs and roof gutters are two of the most common sources of cover punctures. The Gold Shield 5L includes a dedicated ladder cap that pads the top ladder edge and gutter covers that prevent the fabric from hooking on rain gutter lips during installation and removal.

Reflective Panels and Safety

Reflective panel strips along the sides improve visibility of the parked rig in low-light conditions -- useful in campground rows, storage lots, and residential driveways where foot and vehicle traffic passes the parked unit after dark.

Installation Tips:
  • Install with two people on a large fifth wheel -- one to feed from the roof, one to guide the sides down evenly.
  • Clean and dry the RV surface before covering to prevent trapping grit under the fabric.
  • Tighten buckle straps snugly but not so tight that they pull the cover off-center; the elasticized hems do the primary anchoring work.
  • Check the cover fit after the first significant windstorm and re-tension any loosened straps.

Important Information
  • This cover is sized for fifth wheel trailers 37 to 41 feet in length only. Do not use on shorter or longer trailers -- improper fit compromises weather protection and securing strap function.
  • Cover height is 10.08 ft (121 inches). Trailers with unusually tall rooftop equipment beyond this height may experience pressure points that stress the fabric over time.
  • This cover is designed for stationary storage use. It is not intended for use while towing or driving.
  • Always clean and dry the RV exterior before installing the cover for extended storage. Trapping dirt or moisture under the cover can cause scratching and mildew despite the breathable film.
  • Secure all buckle straps before leaving the unit unattended. In high-wind conditions, a partially secured cover can shift and cause abrasion damage to graphics and painted surfaces.
  • Inspect the cover periodically during long-term storage, particularly after major storm events, and use the included patch kit to address any small tears before they propagate.
  • Not a substitute for professional RV winterization. The cover protects the exterior only; plumbing, appliances, and interior systems require separate preparation for cold-weather storage.
Protecting your RV with a quality cover is essential for maintaining its value and longevity. RVs are significant investments that are often exposed to harsh weather conditions, making them susceptible to damage from corrosion, mold, and UV rays. Unlike standard vehicles, RVs serve as mobile homes for many, and a cover can provide added insulation and privacy, enhancing your comfort while protecting against the elements. By investing in an RV cover, you reduce wear and tear, ensuring that your RV remains in excellent condition for years to come.

How To Measure Your Fifth Wheel Trailer:

Length: Measure the longest point from the front to the rear of the trailer. For a fifth wheel, measure from the rear including bumper, spare tire and ladder, until the furthest point on the nose of the trailer coach. Exclude the hitch.

Height: Measure the trailer sidewalls at the highest point of the roofline down to the outside frame, excluding ground clearance, roof-mounted accessories, vents, and A/C units. Remember, don't stop at the top of the wheel well!

How to Install Your Fifth Wheel Cover:

1. Identify the front of the cover by locating the "Front" tag on the interior.
2.
Lay the cover lengthwise on the ground, inside out, with the exterior facing up.
3.
Fold the sides toward the center and roll the cover from the rear, leaving the front end loose.
4.
Position the rolled cover at the rear of the RV near the ladder.
5.
Loosen the roll slightly, then climb the ladder while holding the front end.
6.
Pull the cover onto the roof gradually until you have a strip covering the entire roof.
7.
Starting at the front, unfold the cover side to side, letting it drape down the sides as you move to the rear.
8.
Ensure the corner opposite the ladder is positioned under the cover’s corner.
9.
Climb down while bringing the cover down with you, then adjust the cover as needed.

Removal:

1. Undo all straps and zippers on the cover.
2.
Lift the front of the cover to the top of the RV.
3.
Pull the cover down from the rear.

For Cleaning:

Proper care of your RV cover is essential for maintaining its performance and water resistance. Contaminants like dirt and grease can damage the cover, so regular washing is recommended for long-lasting protection.

You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.

For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
