CarCover Gold Shield 5L Lifetime Warranty CarCover Gold Shield 5L Fifth Wheel Trailer Cover -- Fits 41 to 45 Feet (Part 5RV-5WT-4145)

Purpose-built for large fifth wheel trailers, the Gold Shield 5L delivers heavy-duty all-season protection through a 5-ply top and 3-ply sides -- blocking sun, rain, snow, hail, tree sap, bird droppings, and road dust while its breathable microporous film keeps moisture from trapping underneath. At 25 lbs with zippered access panels, reflective strips, and a ladder cap included, this is a serious long-term storage cover sized for rigs from 41 to 45 feet.

All-Season Defense for Your Largest Fifth Wheel Investment

Storing a 41-to-45-foot fifth wheel means exposing an enormous surface area to the elements. Cheaper single-layer covers trap condensation, fade and crack in UV, and blow loose in wind -- leaving your paint, roof sealant, and slide toppers worse off than before. The Gold Shield 5L is engineered to handle that full exposure, starting with a five-layer top panel that combines UV-resistant polypropylene with a micro-porous film core. The result is a fabric that sheds water and blocks over 98% of airborne dirt without sealing in the humidity that causes mold and rot.

The three-layer side panels extend that protection around the full perimeter, with an extended top overhang that carries coverage down the sides for additional runoff shielding. Elasticized front and rear hems conform to the corners of your trailer, while adjustable weighted buckles pull the slack out and prevent the wind billowing that causes fabric fatigue over a long storage season.

5-Ply Top Construction

UV-resistant polypropylene outer layers with a microporous film interior block water and UV while letting water vapor escape -- no trapped condensation, no mildew.

3-Ply Side Panels

Reinforced three-layer sides resist crosswind abrasion, side-on rain, and debris -- covering the full height of your trailer walls on both flanks.

Zippered Access Panels

Reach your entry door and pass-through compartments without pulling the entire cover -- essential for checking on a rig in long-term storage.

Triple AC Unit Clearance

Pre-cut vents accommodate up to three rooftop air conditioning units, so the cover lays flat and secure over your full roofline without modification.

Fit and Securement System

Fit is what separates a cover that protects from one that just sits on top of your rig. The 5RV-5WT-4145 is sized for trailers with an overall length of 41 to 45 feet, with a cover footprint of approximately 45.5 ft long x 8.58 ft wide x 10.08 ft tall -- giving you the overhang needed to tuck under eaves and gutters without pulling tight over corners.

  • Elasticized front and rear hems grip the nose and tail of the trailer to minimize shifting
  • Adjustable buckle straps pull the cover body snug against the sides -- tighten once, check seasonally
  • Weighted buckles drop to ground level for easier threading under the frame
  • Extended top-layer overhang adds extra side coverage beyond the basic side panels
  • Gutter covers protect the fabric from tearing against metal rain gutter edges
  • Ladder cap guards the rear ladder contact point against rips
Breathable, Not Just Water-Resistant

The microporous film layer is the critical difference between a cover that protects your rig and one that ferments moisture against it. Water vapor from temperature swings passes outward through the film; liquid water cannot pass inward. This is especially important in climates with freeze-thaw cycles or humid shoulder seasons where condensation under a sealed cover accelerates mold, rust, and delamination.

Durability Details

Long-term storage puts cumulative stress on every seam and panel. CarCover addresses this with reinforced double stitching throughout the cover body and at all high-stress attachment points. The fabric itself is sun-reflective, which serves two purposes: it keeps the interior of the trailer cooler during warm-weather storage, slowing dashboard cracking and upholstery fading, and it extends the life of the cover fabric itself by reducing heat-related breakdown of the polypropylene layers.

  • Reinforced double-stitched seams resist separation under wind load and UV degradation
  • Reflective panels increase visibility at night -- useful in shared driveways or storage yards
  • Sun-reflective outer surface reduces under-cover heat buildup
  • Protects against fading, chalking, and oxidation of gel coat and painted surfaces
What Is Included
  • Gold Shield 5L fifth wheel trailer cover (gray)
  • Patch kit for field repairs to the cover fabric
  • Storage bag for off-season or transit storage of the cover itself
Installation and Storage Tips
  • Install with two people on large rigs -- fold the cover in thirds lengthwise, lay over the roofline from a ladder, then unfold down each side
  • Retighten buckle straps after the first hard wind event; fabric stretches slightly during initial use
  • Rinse the cover surface periodically during storage to prevent dirt abrasion against your paint
  • Before storage season, clean and dry the trailer surface -- covering over wet or dirty surfaces traps the problem rather than preventing it
  • Store the cover loosely folded in its bag when not in use; avoid sharp creases that stress the microporous film layer
Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty

The Gold Shield 5L is backed by a lifetime manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The included patch kit covers minor field damage so a small snag does not become a warranty claim or a replacement purchase.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • Verify your trailer's overall length falls within 41 to 45 feet before ordering -- measure the full body including front cap and rear bumper, not just the box length on the title.
  • This cover is sized for fifth wheel (gooseneck pin box) trailers only -- not for travel trailers, toy haulers with flat rear ramps, or motorhomes.
  • Do not install over a wet or dirty trailer surface; trapped moisture and grit accelerate the damage you are trying to prevent.
  • The cover is designed for stationary storage use -- it is not rated for highway travel speeds and should be removed before towing.
  • In sustained high-wind events (above approximately 50 mph), additional tie-down straps or ground anchors are recommended beyond the standard buckle system.
  • Inspect the cover and all straps at the start of each storage season; UV exposure degrades elastics and straps over multiple years of continuous outdoor use.
  • The patch kit included is for minor fabric repairs only -- large tears or seam failures should be addressed through the lifetime warranty claim process with CarCover.
Protecting your RV with a quality cover is essential for maintaining its value and longevity. RVs are significant investments that are often exposed to harsh weather conditions, making them susceptible to damage from corrosion, mold, and UV rays. Unlike standard vehicles, RVs serve as mobile homes for many, and a cover can provide added insulation and privacy, enhancing your comfort while protecting against the elements. By investing in an RV cover, you reduce wear and tear, ensuring that your RV remains in excellent condition for years to come.

How To Measure Your Fifth Wheel Trailer:

Length: Measure the longest point from the front to the rear of the trailer. For a fifth wheel, measure from the rear including bumper, spare tire and ladder, until the furthest point on the nose of the trailer coach. Exclude the hitch.

Height: Measure the trailer sidewalls at the highest point of the roofline down to the outside frame, excluding ground clearance, roof-mounted accessories, vents, and A/C units. Remember, don't stop at the top of the wheel well!

How to Install Your Fifth Wheel Cover:

1. Identify the front of the cover by locating the "Front" tag on the interior.
2.
Lay the cover lengthwise on the ground, inside out, with the exterior facing up.
3.
Fold the sides toward the center and roll the cover from the rear, leaving the front end loose.
4.
Position the rolled cover at the rear of the RV near the ladder.
5.
Loosen the roll slightly, then climb the ladder while holding the front end.
6.
Pull the cover onto the roof gradually until you have a strip covering the entire roof.
7.
Starting at the front, unfold the cover side to side, letting it drape down the sides as you move to the rear.
8.
Ensure the corner opposite the ladder is positioned under the cover’s corner.
9.
Climb down while bringing the cover down with you, then adjust the cover as needed.

Removal:

1. Undo all straps and zippers on the cover.
2.
Lift the front of the cover to the top of the RV.
3.
Pull the cover down from the rear.

For Cleaning:

Proper care of your RV cover is essential for maintaining its performance and water resistance. Contaminants like dirt and grease can damage the cover, so regular washing is recommended for long-lasting protection.

You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.

For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
