OEM Suburban Suburban 350184 Combustion Air Wheel – SF Series Furnaces
Direct OEM replacement combustion air wheel for Suburban SF-25, SF-30, and SF-35 series RV furnaces. Draws fresh outside air into the sealed combustion chamber and exhausts combustion gases safely outside your RV.

Overview

The Suburban 350184 is a genuine OEM replacement combustion air wheel for Suburban SF-25, SF-30, and SF-35 series RV furnaces. This wheel is responsible for supplying fresh air to the burner for combustion and forcing exhaust gases out through the vent.OEM SuburbanCombustion SidePlastic

Suburban RV furnaces use a sealed combustion system with two separate air channels – one for room air circulation and one for combustion. This combustion air wheel handles the combustion side, drawing air from outside through the intake tube and pushing exhaust gases out through the exhaust tube.

🔥 Combustion Air Wheel vs Room Air Wheel

Combustion Air Wheel (This Part - 350184):
• Pulls fresh air from OUTSIDE the RV through intake tube
• Supplies combustion air to the burner
• Forces exhaust gases OUT through the exhaust tube
• Mounts on the SHORT shaft of the motor
• Completely isolated from interior air

Room Air Wheel (Different Part):
• Pulls air from INSIDE the RV
• Blows it across the sealed combustion chamber to absorb heat
• Forces heated air back into living space
• Mounts on the LONG shaft of the motor

These two airflows are completely isolated from each other – combustion gases NEVER mix with your RV's interior air.

Key Features

  • OEM Suburban replacement – genuine manufacturer quality
  • Durable plastic construction – lightweight and corrosion-resistant
  • Compact design – 4-15/16" diameter × 1-3/16" wide
  • Direct drop-in replacement – no modifications needed
  • Sealed combustion system – keeps exhaust isolated from living space
  • Efficient airflow – proper air-to-fuel ratio for clean burning

Compatible Furnace Models

This combustion wheel fits the following Suburban SF series furnaces (25,000-35,000 BTU):

SF Series (Standard)
SF-2525,000 BTU
SF-3030,000 BTU
SF-3535,000 BTU
SF-F Series (Front Discharge)
SF-25F25,000 BTU

SF-30Q / SF-30FQ30,000 BTU
SF-35Q / SF-35FQ35,000 BTU
SF-VH Series (Vent Housing)
SF-25VHQ / SF-25VHFQ25,000 BTU
SF-30VHQ / SF-30VHFQ30,000 BTU
SF-35VHQ / SF-35VHFQ35,000 BTU
SFV Series (Vertical)
SFV-25 / SFV-25Q / SFV-25FQ25,000 BTU
SFV-30 / SFV-30Q / SFV-30FQ30,000 BTU
SFV-35 / SFV-35Q / SFV-35FQ35,000 BTU
SFV-4242,000 BTU*

*SFV-42 can use either plastic 350184 or metal 350183

⚠️ Not for SF-42 Models (Use 350183 Instead)

The SF-42 series (42,000 BTU) furnaces use the larger 350183 metal combustion wheel. The plastic 350184 will NOT fit SF-42, SF-42F, SF-42Q, or SF-42FQ models.

Exception: The SFV-42 (vertical) can use either the plastic 350184 or metal 350183.

How the Sealed Combustion System Works

Suburban furnaces use a Direct Vent Sealed Combustion design for safety:

  1. Motor starts – spins both combustion and room air wheels
  2. Combustion wheel draws outside air – through intake tube in vent cap
  3. Air enters combustion chamber – mixes with propane at burner
  4. Burner ignites – propane/air mixture burns in sealed chamber
  5. Exhaust gases expelled – forced out through exhaust tube by same wheel
  6. Heat transfers to room air – through chamber walls (no mixing)

This sealed design means combustion gases never enter your RV – all exhaust is vented outside. The combustion air wheel is critical for maintaining proper airflow through this system.

🚨 Safety Warning

A damaged or failing combustion air wheel can cause:
Incomplete combustion – carbon monoxide buildup
Poor exhaust flow – gases may back up
Ignition problems – insufficient air to burner
Furnace lockout – safety shutdown

Always ensure proper vent cap installation and verify no obstructions in intake/exhaust tubes.

Signs Your Combustion Wheel Needs Replacement

  • Unusual exhaust smell – possible incomplete combustion
  • Yellow or orange flame – instead of blue (air starvation)
  • Sooting – black deposits in combustion chamber
  • Furnace won't ignite – insufficient airflow to burner
  • Frequent lockouts – sail switch may not close properly
  • Unusual noises – scraping, rattling from combustion side
  • Visible damage – cracked, warped, or broken blades
  • Wheel spinning freely – hub broken from blade assembly
  • Furnace cycles on high limit – poor exhaust flow

💡 Pro Tip: Check the Vent Cap First

Before replacing the combustion wheel, inspect the exterior vent cap for:
Obstructions – wasp nests, debris, leaves
Damage – cracked or missing parts
Proper installation – intake and exhaust tubes properly connected

A blocked vent cap causes the same symptoms as a bad combustion wheel and is easier to fix!

🔧 Installation Tips

1. Disconnect all power – turn off furnace and disconnect 12V supply
2. Shut off propane – close tank valve
3. Access combustion chamber – remove necessary panels
4. Loosen set screw – locate on wheel hub
5. Slide wheel off motor shaft – pull straight off short shaft
6. Clean motor shaft – remove any debris or corrosion
7. Inspect combustion chamber – clean any soot buildup
8. Install new wheel – slide onto short shaft (combustion side)
9. Tighten set screw – secure but don't overtighten
10. Verify clearance – spin by hand, ensure no rubbing
11. Reassemble and test – verify proper operation and flame color
