This vent (3316941.010) replaces the discontinued Dometic 3109350.011. The new door will NOT fit in the old trim frame because the clip locations have changed (now on TOP instead of bottom). When upgrading from the old style: You must remove the entire old frame and install the new frame included with this assembly. The good news: the new vent fits into the existing wall cutout without any cutting required.
RV absorption refrigerators work differently than household compressor models. They use heat to drive a chemical cooling cycle involving ammonia, water, and hydrogen. This process generates significant heat that must be expelled from behind the refrigerator for efficient operation.
Your RV refrigerator uses two vents working together:
When vents are damaged, blocked, or missing, heat builds up behind the refrigerator. This forces the cooling unit to work harder, reduces efficiency, increases propane consumption, and can lead to premature cooling unit failure – a repair that often exceeds $1,000.
• Refrigerator not cooling properly, especially on hot days • Freezer working but refrigerator section warm • Excessive ice buildup inside refrigerator • Gurgling, popping, or hissing sounds from behind fridge • Higher than normal propane consumption
This is a complete vent assembly, not just a replacement door. The kit includes:
New 3316941.010: Clips on TOP of door Old 3109350.011: Clips on bottom of door This is why the new door won't work with the old frame – but the complete assembly fits standard cutouts without modification.
Beyond ventilation, this vent doubles as an access door. Simply release the clips and the door opens, providing access to:
This access is essential for annual maintenance like cleaning the burner assembly, inspecting the flue, and checking for any ammonia leaks (yellow residue indicates cooling unit failure).
This 24-inch sidewall vent is designed for Dometic absorption refrigerators commonly found in:
Replacing Old 3109350.011: 1. Remove old door from old frame 2. Remove entire old frame (screws + pry carefully) 3. Clean opening, remove old sealant 4. Test fit new frame (fits existing cutout) 5. Apply RV sealant around cutout edge 6. Install new frame, secure with screws 7. Snap new door into frame (clips on TOP) 8. Seal edges to prevent water intrusion Tools needed: Screwdriver, putty knife, RV sealant (Dicor or butyl tape)
If installing on a van or fiberglass trailer with curved sidewalls, some modification may be necessary to achieve a proper seal. Consider using flexible sealant generously and possibly shimming to account for the curve.
Your refrigerator vent is just one part of the ventilation system. For optimal performance:
The new vent is slightly larger overall but fits the same wall cutout. Frame is slightly larger to cover the opening with fresh sealant.
• One (1) Vent Door – Polar White • One (1) Mounting Frame
• Mounting screws (reuse existing or purchase separately) • Sealant (recommend Dicor self-leveling or butyl tape)
