Eaz-Lift Forged Adjustable Hi-Low Weight Distribution Shank -- 2 in x 2 in x 12 in
Flip it drop, flip it rise -- the Camco 48650 lets you dial in exact coupler-to-head alignment for your weight distribution setup without buying multiple shanks. Forged steel, powder-coated, and rated to 15,000 lb GTW.
Mismatched hitch head and coupler heights are one of the most common causes of poor weight distribution performance -- and one of the easiest to fix. The Camco 48650 Eaz-Lift forged hi-low shank installs in two orientations: flip it one way for a 2.5 inch drop, flip it the other for a 5.5 inch rise. That 8-inch adjustment range covers the vast majority of fifth-wheel and travel trailer towing configurations.
The shank slides into a standard 2 inch receiver on your weight distribution hitch head and is secured with a hitch pin through the cross-drilled hole. The forged steel body is significantly stronger than cast or stamped shanks, resisting flex and fatigue over tens of thousands of towing miles. A durable powder-coat finish protects against road spray, salt, and UV exposure.
At 12 inches of shank length, the 48650 also provides added clearance between the hitch head and your vehicle's rear bumper or receiver -- useful on trucks and SUVs where receiver depth is limited or where a shorter shank would create interference with the vehicle body.
Single shank handles 2.5 in drop or 5.5 in rise -- no extra hardware needed for most setups.
Forged body is stronger and more fatigue-resistant than cast alternatives under repeated towing loads.
Rated for gross trailer weights up to 15,000 lb when paired with a compatible weight distribution system.
Weather-resistant coating protects against rust, road salt, and UV -- holds up in all-season towing conditions.
A weight distribution system only works correctly when the hitch head sits at the right height relative to the trailer coupler. If the head is too low or too high, the spring bars apply uneven tension -- reducing load transfer efficiency and potentially overloading one axle. Dialing in head height with the correct shank is the first setup step before adjusting spring bar tension.
Before ordering a shank, measure the loaded hitch ball height at your receiver and compare it to your trailer coupler height when hitched and level. The difference determines whether you need a drop or rise configuration -- and how much. The 48650 covers:
For a complete weight distribution setup, pair this shank with a compatible Eaz-Lift weight distribution hitch head, spring bars rated for your trailer's tongue weight, and a 5/8 in hitch pin and clip to secure the shank. A friction or electronic sway control is also recommended for trailers over 6,000 lb GTW.
