The Dicor BBT-3634-1 is butyl sealing tape on a continuous 20-foot roll — designed for sealing uniquely shaped joints, flanges, and irregular surfaces on RV roofs, windows, vents, and doors where a conformable tape is more practical than a gunnable sealant. The continuous roll format means the installer can work fast without worrying about skips or gaps in the seal.
Butyl tape is the bedding material of choice for setting window frames, vent flanges, and roof penetration trim rings before fastening — it compresses evenly under fastener pressure, fills the joint completely, and remains flexible through thermal expansion and contraction cycles. The Dicor BBT-3634-1 is compatible with RV roofing membranes including TPO, EPDM, and PVC as well as glass, aluminum, and most plastics. Do not stretch the product during application. Surfaces must be clean and dry before use. Clean up with mineral spirits before product skins.
1. Clean surfaces thoroughly — remove all dirt, moisture, oil, and loose material 2. Cut tape to desired length 3. Peel off release liner 4. Apply to joint, flange, or seam — do not stretch the tape 5. Install or assemble as required, pressing firmly 6. Clean up excess with mineral spirits before product skins
Butyl tape (BBT-3634-1 — this item): Best for bedding flat flanges before fastening — placing under a vent base, window frame, or roof fitting before screwing it down. The fastener pressure compresses the tape into a complete, even seal. Also useful for any irregular joint that needs a conformable, gap-free seal without a caulk gun. Gunnable butyl sealant (Dicor 451BSG-1): Best for applying a bead to a specific location after installation — sealing around the perimeter of a vent cover, along a termination rail, or filling a gap. Many RV techs use both: tape under flanges during installation, gunnable sealant to finish the perimeter after fastening.
