Keep your slide-out room operating smoothly with this genuine Lippert replacement inner X-shaft tube. Engineered to OEM dimensions, this 72-inch shaft is a direct-fit component for Lippert rack-and-pinion and X-shaft drive slide-out systems found on a wide range of travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes.
The inner X-shaft is the central drive component in Lippert X-shaft-style slide-out mechanisms. It transmits torque from the motor assembly through the slide-out room framework, driving the room in and out along the rack. When the shaft becomes worn, bent, or damaged, the room may bind, move unevenly, or fail to extend and retract completely. Replacing the inner shaft with a genuine Lippert part restores proper function and protects the gearbox and motor from additional strain.
This tube ships at the full OEM length of 72 inches and includes pre-drilled holes for the retaining hardware that secures the shaft within the assembly. Cutting to a shorter length in the field is possible with the correct tooling if your application calls for it, but verify your exact required length before ordering.
Holes are factory-drilled at OEM locations, saving shop time and ensuring hardware aligns correctly with the slide-out drive assembly.
Square 0.8125 x 0.8125 in. profile matches the original Lippert X-shaft specification for positive torque transfer without slipping.
Supplied at full OEM length to fit the widest range of Lippert slide-out room widths. Trim on-site only if required by your specific application.
Sourced directly from Lippert Components -- the original manufacturer of the slide-out system -- ensuring material grade and dimensional accuracy.
Lippert X-shaft slide-out systems use a square-profile inner shaft that passes through a series of support brackets and connects the electric motor drive to the pinion gears at each side of the slide room. As the motor turns, the shaft rotates and the pinions walk along fixed rack rails, pushing or pulling the room. The inner shaft must be straight and free of deformation for even, synchronized movement on both sides of the room.
Common signs of a failing or damaged inner shaft include: room racking or skewing to one side, grinding or clicking sounds during travel, visible bend or twist in the shaft, or a room that stops mid-travel. Inspect the full shaft length before reinstalling -- a bent shaft will damage the pinion gears and motor if run in that condition.
This shaft is used in Lippert X-shaft rack-and-pinion slide-out assemblies. These systems were installed across many brands including Forest River, Keystone, Heartland, Coachmen, and others that source Lippert chassis and slide hardware. To confirm your system uses this shaft, check the Lippert label on your slide-out motor housing or cross-reference the 117606 part number in your coach's parts manual or the Lippert service portal.
